I need to size an image to an exact size of say 2.2cms long and 1.8cms wide in an oval shape. I need to print out multiple images of the same in the exact same size to fit a locket. I've tried sizing using the rulers and grid in the standard edit. While it measures out okay, the screen size is deceptive and the print is absurdly diferrent. How do I achieve this. The original image is 4" by 4" portrait. Please help.

Assuming that you have your oval shaped area defined, you crop closely to the oval. Then you can go to >Image >Resize >Image Size and enter your desired measurements.
Be sure that Resample is unchecked. That should give you a good printing resolution.

Just off the top of my head, if you are printing, maybe you should make sure the document is set to 300dpi?

Kevin,
The OP is going from 4 x 4 inches to 2.2 x 1.8 cm. He is going very small. The resolution should come out rather high when doing this. Of course, it won't hurt to take a look and see what the res is, but I bet you, it's sufficient. I really wanted to avoid the resampling in this case. ;)

Thanks. Having done that when I print the image size is larger. How do I manage an exact print size as well. As well as print multiple images of the same exact size on a single sheet of 4 x 6.

When you print from the editor you should get a screen like this (this is the PSE3 one).
311
If you select Actual Size in the Print Size box it should show the dimensions that you resized to and that you want to print to. Page Setup will let you select 4x6 as the paper size.
The easiest way to get multiple images on the same page is to open a blank file the size of the paper (eg 4x6) with the same resolution as your resized image (eg 300) and copy the image several times to the new file and rearrange them on the page.

You are changing the size form 4 x 4 inches to 1.8 x 2.2 centimeters. Excuse the question, but, are you changing the units to cm in the resize dialog box?

Thanks I finally got it. resizing by dragging to grids/rulers isnt too accurate. You have to resize the image by entering in the exact size paramaters.
