I went to the members' download section in order to work along with an article in the magazine. How do I get the picture 'into' my Photoshop Elements program in order to actually work on it?? Thx. Rosemary:confused:

From Editor just go to File>Open & then get the picture from whever you downloaded/unzipped it to.

OK - this is what I did . . clicked on the picture (most recent Restoration Station), the picture came up, but 'save' and 'save as' are 'greyed out' so I can't 'save' it, thus can't open it in Elements. This work-along feature was one of the reasons I subscribed so am frustrated that I can't make it work. Sometimes technology is just smarter than I am! :) Thx. Rosemary

Hi Rosemary ...

Just let me recap on this ... you went into the subscriber area> Extras and then clicked on Restoration Section. The image then comes up in the file browser ..

Now I'm a Mac user so this may be a little different for you but try right click on the image and you should get a pop up about saving the image ..

Hopefully one of the windows user will be able to sort it out if that is incorrect :)

In Windows (at least with mine) I right click and "Save Target As" . That should bring up a screen that lets you save the file (in this case vol3no5_before.tif ) wherever you want to put it on your computer.

Tony - that works fine, but saves that actual picture (small, perfectly square picture). If I double click on that picture in Extras - I get the 'real' picture, rectangular, with clipped corners, discoloration at the bottom, etc. I'm obviously doing some basic task incorrectly. Thx. Rosemary

Hi Rosemary ...

When you double click and the big picture came up ... did you right click on that and save it ?

Rosemary: Are you sure you right clicked and selected Save Target As - if you used Save Image as that will just save the thumbnail.

You can double click and get the image that way but the way you get it depends on how you have the computer set up (If I double click and select Open I get it directly into PSE4. but it sounds like you might be seeing it in some other program.)

That's what I tried to do, but file/save or file/save as is grayed out. Right-clicking doesn't offer me the opportunity to save either. I suppose the answer is a really simple one . . but I'm missing it!

Tony - Yes, I selected Save TARGET, but it saved the thumbnail.

If I double click I get the 'real' picture, then when I do file/open, I get a box that says: Type the internet address of a document or folder and Internet Explorer will open it for you. I'm sure this shouldn't be this hard, but thx for trying to help me!

Just thot I would let you know that interestingly, I can open and save the Digital Darkroom photo (article by Matt Kloskowski) just fine. Just can't open the restoration station one. Oh well.

Rosemary - Sorry it didn't work - not sure why except that maybe it's because that one is a tif and Internet Explorer is trying to open it. When I double click I get the option either to open or save. Sounds like you're not getting the save option.

Since there is trouble with this image, I am going to convert it to jpg, tif's are trouble anyway.

Kevin . . Not sure I understand all I should about this process, but I'm now able to open/save as and open it in PE. Thanks so much. The forum is great.
