I'm pleased with the outer part of the picture, but am not sure what should be done with the centre part. Have tried stroke outline, but not really satisfied with result. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Valerie,
I like it the way it is. Perhaps a coloured stroke around the very outside of the image will give it that "finished" look you want - try it and see :)

Valerie, I don't think you need to add anything to the center part -- it looks very nice the way it is, and I'm afraid adding to the center might make it cluttered. It's really a nice effect, as well as a wonderful photo to work with.

Looks great to me.
I'm really not sure what you want to do with the middle :confused:
If it is just the oval that you don't like, you could try a sort of irregular clear spot using either one of the shapes to cut out, or use a big irregular brush to lightly go around the edges and give it a rougher look.

Valerie, it's wonderful just the way it is. If you wanted to add something, maybe a bevel around the outside to make a transparent "frame". Play with the size using the little "f" symbol on the layer.

Hi Valerie ...
Mu first though was leave it just as it is ... but then I downloaded it and started to play around with it.
I decided to see how it would look without the circle ... not too easy to do on an unlayered image :(. I also extended her shoulder a little so that it fit with the background curve ... just a thought :)
Now ... how did you do the background :)

Thanks everyone for you comments & suggestions and thanks Wendy for redoing. Now I like them both and can't make up my mind. Think I'm going to let the forum decide for me. :D Here's both.

My vote is for the one without the hard edges. Nice work!
