Hi,
I'm new to the forum, been 'browsing' for a few days though. Contemplating joining the subscriber area.

I have been messing around with some OOB's (out of bounds) recently. I came across them somewhere (think it was on dpreview) and now I'm addicted. My question is am I going to be able to warp the 'picture frames' using PSE 4 using a plugin or something or do you have to have CS2 for that?

Will try to attach a couple of my first attempts...

Thanks in advance
Steve
p.s. great forum by the way:)

Hi Steve ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

Oh those are great !!! ... my favourite just has to be the plane. Its a good photo for this effect and you have made a really good job of doing it.

There are some ways you warping images in Elements but it all depends on how you want the warp to look. Elements has various ways to create warped text (using create warped text) and for images you have Transform (Image>Transform) ... then there is the Shear Filter (Filter>Distort>Shear).

You can get some quite good effects with the Shear filter ... if you take a look in my Gallery you will see one image with a bent film strip on it. That was done using it and at the time I did a mini tutorial about it. Just take a look in Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641) ... scroll down the list and you will find it.

It is well worth subscribing not only do you get the newsletter but you get accress to the subscriber area and that has over 120 Video tutorials and around 60 written tutorials with new ones being added on a weekly basis. Plus there are other things in there too ..

Hey Wendy,
Thats great - thanks for the quick response. I think the filter>distort>shear option might help me out a bit.
So on the subscription side of things, as I'm in New Zealand one year would cost me $85 US dollars - is that right?

Hi Steve ..

I just took a look at the subscription page and the International rate is 85 US $ (the two year deal is probably worth considering as that bring the price per year down :))

It is worth subscribing ..

Not sure if we have any forum members from New Zeland but there are some from Australia and one from Tasmania.

Wendy,

I did a search. There are actually eight forum members who list their location as New Zealand but they seem to keep a low profile - only eight posts between them. (Am I bored or what?)

Bayla ...

I didn't know you could do a search on location ... Oh that will keep me amused for ages :)

Wendy,

If you go to Members and do an advanced search you can choose which parameters to search for. You could for instance search for all who have listed knitting as an interest;)

Wendy,

"Not sure if we have any forum members from New Zeland but there are some from Australia and one from Tasmania."

Tasmania IS a part of Australia and not a different country!! Taswegians will have your "guts for garters" if you say it too loud ;)

Steve,

Welcome to the forum. This is the best place to learn. Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Wendy,
not to worry, our friends from Oz will forgive you, I'm not sure they'll forgive me after this.
I was reading an article yesterday about how the Australian accent came about. All these learned men and women came up with theories about the convicts transported to Oz, creating their own accent and idioms. A gentleman at the back stood up and said - The accent is caused due to the fact that when Aussies speak, they don't open their mouths much, this they do to keep the flies out.
That's it, I'm now heading for the hills.

Wendy,

I forgive you and I am sure Robyn will too but don't do it again  ;) :)

Kev,

Come back from the hills. You know he could be right! Have you ever heard of the great Australian salute? That is the one that you keep waving your hand across your face to keep the flies out of your eyes.

Wendy - you are not alone in mentioning Australia and Tasmania. There is an advertisement in a National travel magazine that makes me cringe every time I see it. "Travel to Australia and Tasmania"!!! I would never use a travel agent who thought they were two different countries. Does one require a passport to cross the Tasman Sea?????

Just had a thought - is it possible to become a subscriber and NOT receive the magazine. That should be much less expensive, and help those overseas.

Hi Jean ...

I don't think that is an option :)

Hi Wendy: Bed time for you. I didnt think it was an option, but the powers that be should think of that. For me the main reason for paying for a subscription is not the magazine, but to get into the tutorials and videos. It is so expensive to mail magazines overseas. Jean

Hi Jean ...

Oh Kev.... That reminds me of a trip we took to Australia when my daughter was in 9th grade. We were all over the east coast big cities doing the tourist thing, then we went to Heron Island on the Great Barrier Reef. My daughter thought she was in paradise. We loved every minute of our trip - Heron Island was great!! Actually everywhere we had been up to that point was absolutely wonderful! Then ----- we went out to Ayers Rock. My prissy 13 year old was incensed - She accused us of taking her from paradise to hell and it was all because of the flies there. She was so furious that she had to wear a fly net hat and look "uncool." It was hilarious. Young teenagers certainly provide lots of opportunities to laugh at them - don't they?? Thank goodness she is now 23 and pretty civilized. Anyway - there sure were an unbelievable number of flies at Ayers Rock. Andie

Never mind...........half of the population of mainland Australia think we here in Tasmania are some kind of an incestuous breed living in a colonial outpost. Only the other day I was filling something out (can't remember what) on an Australian web site and when it came to filling out my address details and listing the state in which I was living, Tasmania was not even listed as an option.......I had to choose the option called 'other' !!!

EDIT......Wendy, I've just gone back and read the first part of this thread..........you are forgiven. As you can see half of Australia doesn't see fit to include us, so as a U.K. resident I think you have a very good excuse.

Hi Steve

If you want to warp your OOB frames, this can be done quite easily use Photoshop Elements.

Check out the link below. The link will take you to a Flickr group thread. The thread has over 50 posts in it. So you will need to scroll down. You will find two different tutorials for warping. If you are a Flickr member you can download them both. You will also find several other tutorials in the thread.

If you need help with anything you find in the thread that the link takes you to. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hope this helps.
