Converting color to B&W

I am wanting to convert some color jpgs. to B&W. Does anyone have a tut for that??? Any advice would be helpful..thx....suzanne

Thanks....I listened to the tut you suggested and will try it tomorrow. It is 11:30PM here and I want to be able to follow it properly! I tried a couple of other methods and each of them turned out about the same....each had the every so slight bit of purple cast to them. I am hoping this will help get rid of that....of course it could be my printer and that is an entirely different issue! Will report on my trial tomorrow...good night...sy

Do let us see your image when it is finished ... by the way the purple caste does sound as though it maybe your printer.

Thanks Bayla, that thread was helpful. I posted a question over there also. I do think it is my printer and will begin to educate myself about correct printer settings, etc. I am wondering if I take my photo to an outside lab if it will be any better. My daughter sent some to one of the online services, Kodak Gallery and they came back very purple...???? Looks like just a lot more to learn here!!
