I think that you may have used the video tutorial Painted Edges. Subscriber area>Videos 19th May 2006 ... it looks very similar to yours.

Hi Michael,

I was going to respond earlier but I am on vacation using my wife's laptop and couldn't remember my password. Apparently your question has been answered already but I had thought maybe you had used a cookie cutter crop tool (perhaps #11). You would do this by first duplicating your background layer, selecting the above mentioned cookie cutter tool, selecting 20 to 30 pixels of feathering and then making and completing the selection around your subject. Then control click on the layer to reselect, inverse the selection and fill it with whatever color you desire. I believe this would produce a very similar result.

Day 7 of the layers course shows an even easier method.
