Hi. I'm working on Wendy's colorizing tutorial and have already hit a snag ( of course!!! ) I have set up my gradient using the numbers in the tutorial and surprisingly, my gradient map looks like the one in the tutorial.
I am having a problem with this part:
Set the blend mode to Colour and click OK.
In my gradient editor the color setting is grayed out so cannot be chosen as an option.I could only choose color burn or color dodge and those aren't right. So, why can't I select "color" ? Thanks. Andie

Hi Andie
I have not seen the tutorial but I think you need to close the Gradient editor.. click OK .... Then change the LAYER mode to color.

Hi Andie ...
Is your image still in greyscale ?? ... if so then just do Image<Mode>RGB and it will then work OK :) I just experimented and it sounds as though that is what it is ...
I always scan in my B&W images in colour as it tends to capture more information that way, so my B&W images are always RBG to start with ..

I'll check about the gray scale Wendy - I remember that I did scan it in grayscale. I'll also try closing the editor. Thanks both of you for your suggestions. I'll get back to you soon. Andie

Andie,
That look really great. Doesn't the colour make a difference to the way the photo looks?

Hi Andie ...
Oh that is good .... you have done itreally well. :) It is such a nice photograph and I think that the colours you have used suit it well ..
I have tried lots of ways of adding colour to images but have to admit that I find this one to be the easiest and most flexible :)

Thanks Karen and Wendy. I couldn't get the dog just the right color but since it was for practice I didn't really worry about it. I liked the way my mother turned out. This picture was taken about 56 or so years ago - before I was born. She was such a cutie! Andie

Hi Andie ...
The good thing about this is that you can always go back to the image and change the gradients ...
I think that you did really well with it :)

A few months ago I would have really struggled with making the various selections necessary for this project - now I am able to do it using a variety of methods and tools depending upon the object I want to select. It is amazing to me when I look back and see how much I struggled with that task. I still do struggle with lots of things but Stuff is becoming more and more clear to me. Thanks Wendy - for all your help and support! Andie
