Desperately need to be able to drag photos from the organiser into other applications, otherwise it means searching folders for the picture file, negating all the excellent finding by tag marks.
You can't even see (under properties or anywhere) a picture's location.

Tim,
Welcome to the forums :)
You can do all of these things :) :)
To drag & drop, make sure the other application is open but minimised in the taskbar, left click and hold on the image in Organizer so that the closed hand appears. Then just drag to the other application on the task bar. I do this regularly with images into Office applications...
If you want to see which folder(s) images are stored in when searching by tags, go to the drop down menu in the bottom left hand corner of the screen and select "Folder Location". This will open a window with the folder structure - like Windows Explorer. Your search results will be displayed in groups by Folder location, with that location displayed above each group.
You can use the option to display by "Folder Location" just to see the pictures in a particular folder...
Also, if you have the default date order view selected and want to see where a photo is stored, right click, select Show Properties and then the General tab - this shows the folder where the photo is stored.
There you go!! Let me know if you want any help with this.

Hi Mike
Thanks for the welcome! And the welcome instructions!! :D I'll try out all you said. Meanwhile very impressed with version 3 over version 1 which I had been using for several years.

Still unable to get pictures to be dragged and dropped. I opened a blank Word document. Minimised Word. With closed hand dragged picture to Word on taskbar, releasing left click. It immediatley opens Word. No pic arrives. Try again, releasing left mouse button on the Word document. Still no picture.
I use Quark Xpress, where you draw a box to contain picture. From Windows explorer, I can drag a file onto that box and, hey, the picture is there. That's what I need to do from Elements.
At least I'm half way in that I've found the excellent folder location. Thanks for that.
Now, what's stopping the drag'n'drop working? Any ideas?

Tim,
When you drag onto the Word icon, wait for Word to open and then drag the cursor onto the Word document (you should see the clenched hand and a small thumnail version of the picture from PSE3) then release the mouse - the image will then appear in the Word document.

I tried every which way and was unable to drag and drop into Word 2003 from PSE 3.
I tried both jpgs and psds. (didn't thinks psds would work)

When you drag into (say) Word and release the mouse the picture doesn't always instantly appear - you may need to wait a few seconds. But it definitely can be done - I do it all the time.
Also, did you know that you can right click and select Copy, then go to (say) Word and Paste the image into a document...

Thanks to Mike I have mastered dragging successfully into Word. But it will not work into my desktop publisher, QuarkXpress.
I know you can copy and paste, but the subsequent pasted picture is a BMP and no way as good quality as the original jpg file.

Tim,
Well I guess we managed to solve part of the original post... :?
But here is a potential workaround to go from Elements into QuarkXpress...
When you have the images(s) displayed in Organizer, right click, select Properties and go to the General Tab. The last but one piece of information in the list is the folder location on your hard drive where the image is stored. If you click the Folder icon it will open that folder in Windows Explorer - and in a separate window. So, you could then drag and drop into QuarkXpress from Windows Explorer and then return to Organizer as you left it.
I know it's a few steps but at least it will enable you to go from Elements to QuarkXpress...
Hope this helps.

Thanks Mike. That's as good a workaround as any - until Adobe introduce the facility in an upgrade (as they did with giving us the option us to change the date into European mode). I did post on Adobe's site, in response to a mini survey, my wish for drag'n'drop.
