Hi there

I am new using Windows Media Center and Premier Elements. I am trying to create my first project and trying to add a Windows Media Center recorded file (*.wmv) the Premier program give me the following error message: File format not supported/One of the necessary components may not have been installed.

What is going on here.

Please someone help me.

You are sure it's WMV? When I record on my Media Center, I get .dvr-ms files.

For Now I am not to shure, but how can i work around this problem?

With another program i can edit these files created by Media Center?

Thanks.

You cannot use media center files in premiere elements, there are a few conversion programs but I don't know of anything that works real well. Those files where not meant for editing anyway, another Microsoft deboggle.

I use VideoRedo to convert mine to mpegs. There are some free programs that do it as well, but I found Video Redo to be very easy and I use it to remove commericials quickly. But Media Center files are dvr.ms.
