robynl -

I love this image/look - If you don't mind, how did you do it ?

For lack of a better word, the 'printed on paper' look is wonderful.

Thanks,
Mark

Robyn.... this is indeed beautiful, as are all the recent additions to your gallery. The B&W version is stunning!

Robyn ...

Oh that is just so good !! ... the background has a similar look to the Old paper action by Panos. I too would like to know how you did it :)

Thank you Mark, Pat and Wendy.

Mark..........the original image was smudged and I used some lighting effects (you can see the other versions in my gallery) and then I used the paper as explained below.............

Yes Wendy......it is the old paper action by Panos. I just saved that particular layer of the action as a pattern. I saved it several times with a few different adjustments so I've got several different paper 'looks'.

Hi Robyn ...

I hadn't thought of doing that ... it is so effective. Ummm I'm just off to make some patterns :) :)

I think without a doubt that is my favorite of all the pictures you have done. It is beautiful! That I would not hesitate to purchase a print and hang on my wall as ART.

How did you save only the texture layer? I haven't tried that but it sounds like a great idea. I thought Old Paper was only a photoshop action - do they have it for Elements too now? I did get the photoshop version but would like to be able to run it in Elements too.

Thank you Nancy.......coming from you such a lovely compliment means a lot to me. :)

I bought the Old Paper action for Elements. As you would know there is usually multiple layers in an action, I think from memory I just made a selection of the actual paper layer and then "define pattern from selection" and saved it.

Beaytiful work Robyn! I love magnolia's but I've never seen a real one.
Another way to use the texture is to save it as a psd file, then you can load it into your texturizer filter and control the scale and relief. You can go out and take your own pics if you want and use them this way (stucco, cement, tree bark).

Thanks Robyn,
I'll have to take a closer look at that and try to save it.

Thanks too Terry for the tip on doing your own. Now - if I get this right - you take a picture of a texture and then save it. Then you can load that picture into your texture?

Hi Nancy ....

You can use any image as a texture as long as you save it as a psd file :) Then just put the psd in Presets>Textures ... and access it via Filter>Texture>Texturiser.

... as long as it is saved as a psd file even a portrait can be used as a texture :)

Nancy and Wendy, you don't even have to put it into elements, you can save it to any file and load it from there. This way your elements program doesn't get overloaded. I just have a texture file folder, just like with your brushes.

Hi Terry ...

Yes I also have a separate file ... textures really seem to slow down Elements such a lot :)

Robyn,
You just seem to get better all the time at photo imaging...Truly wonderful work. Wish I could accomplish such beautiful things, but I only seem to be able to do the simple stuff. I can follow the directions given in the videos and tutorials, but I just can't seem to be creative like you and some others on this forum. I do enjoy viewing your work. :):)

Dorrie, I think their minds are deep and dark. I wouldn't want to go there. It's beyond me how they come up with their idea's. Sometimes, I don't know if they do either :p .

You've got a point there Brian, maybe that's why I can't be as creative.:D

Thank you all for the great compliments ........and thank you Terry and Wendy for the info on texture files. I've got quite a few images I'll be able to use in that way.

No Brian and you never will. You see - men are not in touch with Menstrosa - the goddess of all things creative, deep, thoughtful, vengeful and female who kicks us once a month to keep our creativity flowing. Men will never, ever be able to go there.:D

Hey Nancy.............it's been quite some years since I've got that sort of creative kick............it must hang on for years after. :D :D

I think it's that vengeful part that is permanent! At least that's what my husband says.:D
