I have noticed when I change type style and then go to the next drop down to choose Regular, Bold, Bold Italic, etc. I do not have as many choices of styles as you show on your classes. I would like to have that many options. Can you tell me what I need to do. I usually have four at the very most, sometimes only one or two. ebsnapper

Hi ...
Elements doesn't have any fonts of its own ... it just uses the fonts you already have installed on your computer ...
You can add more .. but not all fonts have the different options so you do have to check. A easy way is to see which font Matt used and then maybe buy that font ... (usually fonts with lots of options are not free fonts).
Is there any particular one that you really liked ?

I hope maybe someday I will fall into the class of an enlightened elder. Wendy, you are great. I have the age - 79 - but am still working on the enlightenment. I did not know that about the fonts. It makes sense the good ones would not be free. I have a lot - I use Comic Sans a lot - and I have the option of Bold Italic, but don't remember seeing it on Elements. Now that I know this neat fact, I will check again. I didn't even know you could buy fonts. There are so many available without. Thank you for sharing.
Right at the moment, along with the lessons, I am working on what driver to purchase that will allow me to burn my DVDs. Unfortunately you have a MAC, as does my son, and I have a PC. My driver will read DVDs but not burn. A chat session with Dell has given me more insight on a very complicated and hard to understand issue. I need more room to put my lessons on than a CD provides. Never thought I would need to burn DVDs when I "built" my computer a year ago. Things change so fast.
Thanks again, Amelia

I just checked Elements and Comic Sans options does not offer Bold Italic yet I know I have it - use it regularly. Wendy, do you know why it would not appear as an option on Elements? ebsnapper

Hi ...
If you are using it with something else and it has those options then I really donlt know why its not showing up ... I wonder if you have two versions of it on your computer and only one of them is showing.
We could do with help from a Windows user now ... hopefully one of them will pick up on this thread .. :)

Hi,
have just checked Comic Sans on both Elements 3 and 4 and it has two settings regular and bold, no italic.
Then checked my favourite Font download site and the only Comic Sans I could find were regular and bold.
If the font is in your font folder it will show in both versions of Elements.

Hi Amelia
There are lots of ways to have fun with fonts and any time you have an idea of womething you would like to try - just put your idea out here and one of us will make sure you get to do it.
As far as getting a DVD burner - it is a great idea and I would recommend that you get an external one so you can just bring it home and plug it into one of your USB ports and never have to open the computer case itself. I have been very pleased with my Sony burner.
Let us know how you go on - and if you would like to try downloading some free fonts - there are lots of good places on the web and it is quite easy.:)

My 2 cents. If you just want to burn files onto a DVD this is a great free and easy to use program. I loaded it onto my daughter's PC and she loves it.

I submitted a message and don't know what happened to it - will try to reconstruct.
First: Comic Sans Bold and Italic - I checked my fonts folder and it only contains Regular and Bold - no Italic. I use the Bold Italic all the time in Outlook, Word, etc. Where does it come from for use there, and how can I get it into my Font Folder.
Second: On the download for burning DVDs. It looked as if you had to use their discs with their program. They had a much greater capacity (50 + GB) compared to local ones of about 4.7. Is this the case? You get the program for free but have to buy their discs?
Third: I liked the ease of the external driver, too but not all drivers for burning DVDs will work on my Dimension 2400. The Internal one I have about decided on is a Dell product, tested and approved for my computer, backed by their support and service. It is also nearly $50 cheaper than the external.
Wendy, thanks for calling in the reserves - maybe amongst them we can come up with an answer to the italics. I will do some more looking, too, but at least I understand now why I can't get the option. I need to get the italic form into my font folder. If it is available in Outlook, etc. it must be available somewhere.
Thanks everyone. Amelia
