by Huntress' cube photo...A very well deserved editor's choice...It inspired me to try and make one with my three kids.
Anyway this is what I came up with.....

You did really good on the cube. It has been a while since I did my first one -- it turned out looking like the pictures were peeling in places.

Great job Rocco, and I love the fact that you made the hands holding the cube!! Very nice effect.

Rocco,
That is EXCELLENT! You are very creative, the hands are what gives the special touch that makes it stand out from other cubes that have been posted.

Rocco,
I am interrested in the black frame on one of the photos in your galery. Did you get it from somewhere or did you create it yourself.

Thanks everyone!
Allen, I created it myself. If I remember off the top of my head .... I just increaed the canvas size and filled it with black. Made a selection around the picture, then chose inverse from the selction tab at the top. I then used the stroke outline selection - under edit and chose Inside. I the played with the bevels from the Styles and Effects palette..I might have missed a step in there somewhere, but you'll get the basic idea

Rocco,
That is really lovely & I love the way you have presented it.....I made my first cube a while back but never really liked the fact that I had it just sitting in space as it were.....your idea is a great finishing touch!

I just finished viewing your entire gallery and wanted to tell you I think all of your photos are fantastic! I especially loved the popouts with the German Shepherd coming out of the water and your son spraying the hose. What a touch of genius! I am new to PSE and am slowly learning day by day but your photos have inspired me! Thanks for sharing your gallery and keep the photos coming. I need all the inspiration I can get!

Rocco -- I love the photo of the hands. (I like the cube as well - but for the purpose of my comment and question I'm more focused on the hands.) Can you please tell me the technique you used to achieve the photo? How much of that was actual camera technique and how much is PSE darkroom work? I feel like I have so much to learn, and your results with the "hands" picture is "perfect". Please do share...

Thanks Kim! I'm glad you like the photos.
Norm, I set my camera on a tripod and set the timer. Placed a black coat on the sofa and set my hands over the coat. The only thing I did in photoshop was turn the picture to B&W and then used the burn tool at about 65% opacity and brushed it over my arms until just the right amount of my hands were showing. Hope that helps...and thanks for the nice comments!
