View Full Version : Technique for making "box" inside a photo

Can someone point me to a tutorial on the technique for making a "box" in a photo that blends with the picture? For instance, it appears to be a frame inside the photo where what is in the frame appears a little darker maybe but then is actually just a subset of the whole picture.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry ...

Not sure if I understand you correctly but try this:

Make a selection where you want the lighter area to to be
Then so Select>Inverse
Next do Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Hue & Saturation
When the box comes up adjust the Lightness/Darkness (experiment with the others too :)

If the "frame" edge seems too sharp then you can apply a slight feather to make it softer. To do that try Select>Feather ... just do a small pixel size just after the Select>Inverse step.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, I'll try that. What I was asking about I actually just saw in your gallery Wendy. The picture that has the caption ...and for one little girl, ...it was all too much.

How did you do the frame around the girl?

Hi Larry ...

Oh now I know what you mean ... Its done using a video tutorial from the Subscriber area. Its called Wedding template and its dated the 8th July 2005 ... its one of the best photo effects I have come across and I use it a lot :)
