Can anyone tell me if I have PS 4.0 already loaded on my system, can I have PS 3.0 too?? Can you have both versions of PS loaded on the same system?

Yes, you can have both. If you are on Windows, you will only be able to use the organizer from one of the two (I recommend PSE 4.0 organizer, they fixed several bugs). You also can't have both editors open at the same time, supposedly.

Thanks!! I was using the 3.0, then my husband built me a new system, and we bought or downloaded the upgraded version 4.0, and frankly I dont like it. I want the 3.0 back. I have ordered the 3.0 software, but we werent sure if I could have both versions loaded on the system. But, you think I can, I can just use 1 or the other at a time, not both, correct??

Yes. But, once your Organizer catalog has been converted to 4.0, it can't be read by 3.0. The 3.0 version should still be there, but it won't have anything you added with 4.0.
The 3.0 Editor is better in some ways (red eye fixing works better, and ctrl-click works better), but the 4.0 Organizer is more reliable.

I guess I dont understand?? Do you mean any new pictures that are in 4.0 wont be transferred over to 3.0, but all of my old pictures will still be in the 3.0 version?? Is this what you mean??
The main thing I dont like about the 4.0 is that they did away with the file browers, and you have to go thru the organizer. I really dont like that. Any suggestions on how to get around that or how to adapt to that any better?

Trish,
I thought that if you had both programs installed, then each would have their own Organizer Catalog, but not necessarily the same, unless you were sure to update each with the same photos. Of course this would be a lot of trouble to keep track of.
I personally continue to use just the Organizer in version 3, and ignored ver. 4 altogether. Only use the Editor in ver.4.

Dorrie,
When you say you use the editor in 4.0, do you mean you use 4.0 to edit your pictures? I agree, I dont like the organizer in 4.0 at all.

Trish,
I sometimes Edit my photos in version 4 and sometimes in version 3. I just don't use the Organizer of ver. 4.
It depends on what I want to do with the image, as some features in ver. 4 make doing the job easier. Like selecting part of an image or straightening a crooked image. Sometimes it's even easier to follow the video tutorials as they mostly use ver 4. now. After doing the tutorial in V4 then I try it in V3. There are some differences between the two versions.

Dorrie: I do it just like you although I only have 4 loaded on my laptop. I'm not a sophisticated Organizer user so having two Organizer versions isn't really a problem (and the Photo Downloader gives you the option of which one to use when you have both installed). I had a plan to use the 4 Organizer to really get organized but I just haven't got round to it yet :) . I have both PSE3 and PSE4 set to open in Editor and for some images I'll switch back and forth for the few things that PSE4 does better at.

I was looking at your gallery. How did you do the picture of the Cat? did you use 4.0 for that? How did you do the frame around the cats head?
I have 2 cats, and that is such a cute idea.
Thanks!

Teresa,
Gosh, I wish I could remember exactly how I did that, but it was done a long time ago, and I saved it as a .jpg, before I new about saving as a .psd to preserve the layers.
I do believe, though, that it follows the video for "Snapshot_effects" in the subscriber's area. The only thing different from the movie that I obviously did was to use some kind of frame style and added the paw prints from custom shapes, and of course text.
Sorry I don't remember more than that..:o

Tony,
The only thing is I don't use the Adobe Downloader....I hate it. I just want to put my pictures where I want them, not where Adobe thinks they should go. I like to save my Originals in one folder and put copies in the "Watched Folders", so I do things my way. At least it works for me.:D
