someone sent me some portrait photos on a disc. I can put them onto my desk top and from there into elements 4. then I rotate them and try to save this changes but the machine says it doesn't respond to disco 6232.jpg. I went to info but don't understand the options. Could someone help me with this.thanks in advance.
Also do you know if I could take the disc somewhere and have hard copies of just some of the photos?

Ok... click on one image file (to start somewhere), then press on Command - I (this will bring the Get Info).
Under the General section, make sure the Locked isn't checked, and if it is, uncheck it. PSE will happily let you save your files after that!

Meribee - did you actually drag the pictures from the disk onto the desktop? Also - sometimes I've found that if you put them into a file on the desktop - or someplace else on your comp - that it will work. - This is of course if Ray's suggestion didn't work.
Hey Ray - hows the new toy holding up?

I'll let the mac experts answer your first question.
As for printing selected pictures, you should not have any problems, if this ia standard disc. Most self-serve photo kiosks let you select any number of photos; the same is true for local camera stores that print from digital mediums. Where do you normally do your printing?
Hope this helps.

Meribee :
Make sure then that you have the permissions to write to the file. Do a Get Info again (Command - I) and have a look at the bottom section (you might have to expand it if necessary). In the owner, in Red in the picture, find your username, then change it. You may also have to click on the padlock to open the function (and supply your admin password).

All is well!!! And another piece of the puzzle in place. How would anyone ever learn all this without this wonderful group? I am especially grateful to my fellow mac users. Many thanks Ray !.
