Hello ...
I want to add music AND voice narration to my slide shows.
I want to "reduce" the volume of the music as I speak .. then let it "go back up" when I am finished speaking .... instead of stopping the music .. talking ... then starting the music.
Any clues on the best way to approach this problem?
I am using Elements 4
THanks in advance

I have Elements 3.0, not 4.0, but this bit of information for 4.0 may get you started:
If you click on one of the music file(s) in the audio bar, check out the Properties Palette. The Trim Audio Control is there where you can adjust the length and volume of that sound track. If you have more than one music file, then you will have to go back to the audio bar, click on that, and then go back to the Properties Palette and use the Trim Audio Control for this second sound track adjs.
Now if you have only one music file, and you just want to adjust the volume for different segments, it might be possible to do that with the length and volume controls, one segment adj at a time. At this time, not sure if that is possible.
I am not sure of the controls for Narration, but I will check it out if you do not already have the details in your Help Menu. I suspect that the volume control for Narration is separate and probably nearby.
Maybe do some experimenting and see what happens.

Since I posted last, I came across this very comprehensive article on Elements 4.0 (which even includes Premiere Elements).
http://store1.adobe.com/education/digkids/pdfs/multimedia_projects.pdf
Check out Narration (starting with page 24) and Music (starting with page 32).
This is my take on the issue (right now). Unless there are huge gaps between the slides that have and have not narration, it would seem easier to lower the volume of the music to a constant level that does not interfere with the narration that you have for each slide.
If the latter is not possible, then you might have to experiment with multiple music tracks under the different slides where the narration resides.
Hope that helps.
I will continue to watch your progress through this Thread.

Willi,
If you post some details (Elements version, slideshow creation details, music source(s), file types that have not worked), I would be willing to offer some comments hopefully to help you work out the problem.
First, take a look at that comprehensive Elements 4.0 reference that I posted earlier. It covers a lot and in detail.
