Recently i took a trip to the top of Mt Greylock, which is helpfully very close my where i live. I took this photo of the tower at the top and it looked a little bland and the colors werent very dramatic. On one i made it into a simple black and white and darkened it, on the second, i duplicated the photo a couple times and set the blend mode to soft light that i think gives a very sharp dramatic look. tell me which one you think you like better, any critiquing is fine, always welcome.

heres the black and white version:

Dan,

I like them both, but the color one has much more pop. There is a lot more detail and contrast in the building. Great shot!

Hi Dan,

Nice image. I prefer the B&W for this one. If you're open to suggestions, I would darken it even further. A levels adjustments seems to give it that little additional "pop" that Maureen referred to. Give it a try.

Dan,

I'm with Norm on this one...my first reaction before reading Norm's was 'prefer the B&W, think it could be contrasted more'

Great picture. Were you sitting down to get it all in?

Both are great, but I think the b&w is best too with a bit more adjustment. Try adding some sharpening with the highpass filter to make it pop more and further levels to get contrast. There is a setting for USM that adds contrast too, but I dont recall where I have it jotted down. GREAT image!

I like them both......just different looks......kind of depends on my mood. Sometimes I love b&W, sometimes it's all about the color for me. I agree though.....maybe a little more constrast on the B&W might make it even more striking!

Nice job!

I vote for the color. Great gallery, by the way! You are very creative.
