Hi,
I am new to this forum. I have PSE4 and whenever I open it I get the following message:
'Could not complete your request because of a program error.'
This happens everytime I open it and before I open any files. Does anyone know anything about this?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Karma ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
Is this something that has just happened or has it been this way since you first installed Elements?
If it has just happened then the first thing I would suggest is deleting the prefs file:
To do that close down Elements then click on the Editor start up icon and quickly hold down the Control, Alt and Shift keys (If you are a Mac user Apple, Alt and Shift). Continue to hold down all three keys until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings ... just say Yes.

Wendy,
Yes, it has happened ever since I installed the software. I even un-installed it and re-installed it.
I tried doing the control-alt-shift and nothing happens. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I click on my PSE4 icon on my desktop and then get a screen with options to do a 'project from scratch', or 'edit and enhance' and so on. That's when I choose edit and hold down those keys??

Hi Karma ...
Did you have any anti virus software running whilst you were installing ?
The message you are getting when you try to delete the prefs file sounds like you are starting up in the Organiser ... you need to try it when you launch the Editor (that isn't the same as Edit).
I'm a Mac user and my version is different to your but hopefully one of the Windows users will be able to help on this one :)

Hi Karma
Not sure if I can help, but it sounds like you are at the right spot.
Pick "edit and enhance photos" then very quickly hold down those keys. You should then, a few seconds later, get a popup box asking to reset the preferences. Pick yes.
If you did have any AV software running I would recommend turning it off as Wendy suggested, and try a reinstall if resetting prefs doesn't work. Make sure if you do a reinstall that the PE folder is empty and gone from the Adobe folder.
Let us know :)

So sorry that didn't work.
I'm not sure what OneCare is but turn it off for a sec and see if it helps.
