Hi All.......
I'm a noob to this forum and have recently purchased Photo Shop Elements 3 but I've aquired a problem since I installed it. I lost my regular Picture viewer.exe and had to download one off of google as a trial. I have tons of pics in my pictures icon on my desktop that I e-mail to people. Since I installed elements, I wasn't able to do this anymore untill I DL'ed a trial version of a different Picture viewer.exe. Does anyone have any idea as to why this happened and what can be done about it? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Much.
Mark
P.S. I'm running XP Home edition with a P4 2.8G, 1G of ram. Also I'm not sure if I have mt corect time zone in place. I'm actually Central Standard time in the U.S.A.

Not sure I understand the question completely. Which picture viewer do you want to use? If you right click on an image file or short cut you should see an Open With option - this should list all the programs, including Elements, that can be associated with the file type. Click on the one you want and XP will use that program to open it.
BTW Elements will likely do all the things you want to do (like attach pics to emails) and a lot more besides.

I would like to use the original picture viewer that came with XP. But as soon as I loaded Elements, that dissapeared.

Do you mean Windows Picture & Fax Viewer?

Yes Mike if thats what it is when you right click on a picture and you get a bunch of options which one is send to and then more options come up which one is e-mail. Then it alows you to send the picture in full format or reduced size. Thanks

That should still work when you have Photoshop Elements installed. It does with me. What PSE3 does do is change the file associations so that when you click on a picture file (eg a .jpg file) it will use Photoshop Elements to open it. If you'd prefer another program to open it you can change the file associations from any folder (for example My Pictures) by clicking Tools, Folder Options and look in the File Types tab. Scroll down to the one you want to change (for example JPG) and it will say under details Opens with Adobe Photoshop Elements. Click the change box and you will be shown the options that you can open it with (for example Windows and Fax viewer). If you make the change XP will use that program to open it rather than Elements.
If you only want to use another program occasionally you can just right click a picture and use the Open with option. That will let you use another program to open the picture on a one time basis.
Hope this helps.

Hey Tony.....
Thanks my friend. That took care of it for me and I'm back to where I want to be. Not sure why Elements snafood me but were square now. This is an area that I haven't dove into very much or had the need to until now. But I thank you very much for your time and help. It's much appreciated. If your into burning DVD's and ever have a problem, come on over to the www.cdfreaks.com and look us up. I'll try to return the favor. Thanks again.
