View Full Version : Process Multiple Files - Problem

I am having a problem with "Process Multiple Files" (using PSE3 on a Mac).

After scanning 12 slides into PSE, I have files labelled "Untitled-1" to "Untitled-12". So far so good.

When I use "Process Multiple Files" to automatically re-name these, it numbers them in the reverse order. This sounds trivial, but it is VERY irritating when I am scanning (and trying to keep track of) large numbers of scanned slides.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks

Do you want them to be renamed? If not, turn off the Rename file command by unchecking the box. That's usually what I do when I use the Process Multiple file command.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. That's very annoying and I played a bit and can't see a way round it if you scan via Elements. The way round it (at least for my Epson Scanner) is to scan using the Scanner Software that lets you choose a file name and it then adds sequential numbers (and does it right!). I suspect all scanners let you do something similar.

Thanks for the help. I think I will try using the scanner's software directly, as suggested.

Just happened to notice when using the Adobe Photo Downloader that importing from the scanner and renaming the files sequentially is an option. Tried it and it works AND it gets them in the right number order (they are imported as TIFF files). Now why it should get it right one way and not the other I have no idea.

Just noticed that you have PSE3 with a Mac so you won't have Organizer so probably don't have the Photo Downloader either so this won't be a solution
