On Monday night I couldn't sleep & viewed several of the online videos. During one of them, (I think it was one of Matt's), he added a flattened layer to the project. This was not a matter of clicking the link to flatten all layers, - the one that disgards invisible layers, & combines them all into one - but rather it adds a flattened layer as the top layer.

Hi Nita,
I think you will find that the way it is done is -
1 Select your top layer and open new layer
2 With the new layer selected press Alt and while holding it down go to to the More tab in the layers palette and then click Merge Visible.
You will now have a flattened image in your top layer.
Instead of the Alt key method I believe pressing Control, Shift, Alt and E all at the same time works also.
Hope this is what you wanted to know.
Kev.

Hi Nita ...
I think you may be thinking about Stamp Visible ... that makes a flattened copy of what you see on the screen.
Its shortcut is Control,Alt,Shift,E (Mac Command,Option,Shift,E)
