Trying to put together a photo (with type) for use in ordering business cards.

I cannot change the spacing between the lines (appears to be double spacing, and I want single). How can I change this?

Thanks,

Dick

Hi-

I just learned this in the layers class (thanks, Matt!) I did do a search in the forum though and found an explanation from Wendy, and I'm sure her explanation is better than what I would come up with:

If all the lines are on one layer of type then pick up the type tool, double click on the thumbnail in the layers palette ... now look at the top of the screen and you will see an icon that looks like two A s one of them on top of the other, its just to the left of the colour section.

That adjusts the "leading" and usually its set to auto but it you want to change the gaps between the lines on text (they have to be all on one layer) then that will adjust it for you. Just change the numbers until it looks OK.

Hope this helps ...

Wendy

To add what Kay has posted you can also change the horizontal spacing of text as well but it requires a bit of a trick.

In your Preferences go to type and click on Show Asian Text Options. Close Elements and then when you open it again you will see one more icon on the tools bar when you activate type. You can change the spacing with the tools when you lick on this icon.

Another solution is to put your two lines of text on two separate layers, then you can move them anywhere you want or as close as you want with the move tool.
