Selecting or masking a color

I figured out how to make a selection mask based on brightness. However, what I really need is a selection based on a color. The application is very simple: I shoot a scene against a blue background and then I replace the blue background with another image. Is that possible with PE 4?

Hi Czarek ...

You can do that in Photoshop but Elements doesn't have Select>Colour Range...

Try the magic wand ... that should be able to select the blue OK :)

Yes that can usually be done in Elements. You could make a selection of the color with continous NOT checked.

However there could still be problems such as semi-tranparent articles and hair. No matter what you do often some of the strong background color bleeds into the main subjects.
