I am creating a photo invitation for my son's 2nd birthday party. It is a work in progress, so after working on it for a while, I saved it last night as a psd document.
I just opened it and I want to make changes to the text, but when I click on it, I get a message dialogue box that says:

"Rerendering the text layer "We can't believe it's true!" will cause its layout to change. The existing pixel data will be used instead. Continue?"

I then need to choose between "Ok" "Cancel" or "Ok All"

Does anyone know what this means? What should I do?

Thanks!

Hi Maria ....

Just take a look at the layer in the layers palette ... does it still have a T to show its a text layer?

Wow, that was fast.

It does still have the "T" icon to symbolize a text layer, but there is a small triangle with an exclamation mark in it. Actually, it appears in all my text layers in the palette. Do you know what this means?

Thanks, Wendy!

Hi Maria ...

It sounds as though Elements can't find the font that you used ...

Try this:

Open up the image
Duplicate it ... File>Duplicate
Then try to change the text .. just click om continue
it should substitute the font for another one.

... hopefully it will look identical

Sometimes this happens when you have two versions of the same font on your computer and Elements can get confused by it :)

Do let us know how you go on ...

I think Wendy means to click "OK" to continue, but you might want to chant "om" repeatedly while doing so as this may improve your chances of success. ;)

Too funny, Jon. I did chant when I clicked ok, and it worked. LOL.

So here's my final product:

I think it came out nice considering I'm no pro!

Thanks! I just love doing this. Taking my photos and turning them into something more than just a snapshot.

And yes, my little guy is just a doll. He has a great little personality! :)

Maria ...

Oh you have done a great job on that ... well done it looks really good :)

By the way ... the "om" is just so important if you don't chant as you do it them all your work vanishes into space

How did you divide the sections in equal quadrants?

Looks great.

Hi Brent ...

There are a few ways to do it ... a couple are using the Rulers or the Grid.

Try View>Rulers and View Grid :)

Brent, I began with a new 4x6 document with a white background. I then used the ruler to create a 2x2 box at the upper left hand corner. Then I filled that box with the blue color of choice using the paint bucket. Then I duplicated that box two times by hoding the ALT key while dragging the box downwards (a technique I learned in one of the videos here). This creates a duplicate blue box. I did this again and positioned the two new boxes in the middle right and bottom left. The key is to do the math. The 4x6 size meant I could have two 2x2 boxes going across (one blue and one white space) and three going down. Then I just filled the white space with my photos.

I hope I explained this well....

I thought I seen in a video or book once that there is way of coping a selection (one of the quadrants) and duplicating it so it is the exact size and shape?

Thank you, everyone! They are all printed up and ready to be mailed. :)

Yes, the way I did it was to create the 1st blue square and then duplicating it two times by holding down the ALT key while dragging the square down. This creates an exact duplicate on its own layer.
