Hi - I just heard my great-nephew who is 3 broke his leg. I want to do a quick card before we leave on holidays. I actually have a photo of my sister's golden retriever with a hot pink cast on her leg that I can do something with. Now, when I go to use those frames that are in - effects I think - there are some simple ones like ripples, strokes and such. The thing is can I make those bigger than they come up and can I change the color? The way I get them to my photo is by dragging and at this point I cannot figure if there is a way to alter. Thanks anyone.

Hi Shari ...

No you can't change the size of those ... there is a sort of workaround.

Increase the canvas size, create a new layer below the image and fill it with white. Ony think is the effect size still says the same :(

If you go into the Subscriber area you will see a Video by Dave "Painted Edges"... its dated 19th May 2006. It does a very similar frame, you can do it in the size of your choice and its really easy to do :) ... so why not try that instead ...

Shari,

Saw your dilemma and decided to look at this. Key to below is not too much, if any, white in your photo.

If you are happy with the Styles and Effects/Effects/Frames, but the hang ups are the size and color, here goes for Strokes Frame and Ripple:

Those appear to be multistep actions which end in merge with white borders, so I do not see any way to get at the individual steps. This is my round about:

Your photo = Background Layer
Control J to duplicate the Background generating Layer 1
Run your Ripple
After it does its thing, with Layer 1 active, select white border with the Magic Wand tool, hit the delete key
Layer 1 still active, Control T and size down just a little the photo remaining.
Press Enter to accept.
Then create a new layer under Layer 1 and fill with the color of your choice.
The end result should be your Ripple border a little larger and the color of your choice.

Will it work for you?
