So I'm trying to delete the dude walking by in the background. I figured I'd use the Eraser -- the Background Eraser -- right? Well, I'm able to select the part that needs erasing, but it leaves behind, like, a gray and white checkerboard pattern.

How do I make it just plain white -- I want it to blend it with the rest of the dominant white color in the background. Should I just paint over it?

Hi- Your link didn't work, but I think what you'd want to do is use the clone tool and clone the background in place of the guy you want to get rid of it. I think it's better to do the cloning on a separate layer (and just choose sample on layers).

Duplicate your background layer. Add a new layer and fill it with white (edit>fill layer) Drag the new white layer between the background and the background copy. Erase on the background copy to reveal white layer below.

Thanks, folks. I was actually able to airbrush over the guy in the background with the dominant background color and that did it.
