View Full Version : Deleting a Special Effect

Sometimes I do the stupidest things. I was reading all my back issues of Elements Techniques and in Vol.2 No.3 p22-23, there was an article about "Extras". I remembered loading them into my 3.0 version so thought I would load them in 4.0. I followed the instructions and the PET icons appeared in my Effects palette but with the wrong titles. Then I looked into it further and those special effects were for 3.0 only. I went back to Program Files/Previews/Effects and deleted the two downloads but when I went back into 4.0 these icons were still in the Effects palette. I turned off the computer and started it again and they're still there. I went back into Program Files etc and they are gone from the Effects file but they are still in my Effects palette. How do I get rid of them?

Sounds exactly like my problem, I just don't understand the solution. I did delete the files but I don't understand the part about deleting the icons, and removing the unwanted layers, and the Pet_ProductivityIcons and Wendy saying the icons are stored in the psd file that is included with the action files. Where is this?

Hi Peggy ...

When you first installed the effects you had to delete the six files from the two caches to get it to work ... uninstalling it is the same.

You have already removed the two downloads now all you need to do is delete the cache again ... and the icons will vanish :)

Here is a link to Grant's instructions (they work in just the same way :)) take a look at 4th image on the page and you will see the ones I mean.

Do let us know how you go on :)
