I have 2 hard drives on my PC. I'd like to have PSE4.0 on both drives. It is currently installed on my c: drive and I've been using it to manage my digital photos. I'm also a scrapbooker and I'd like to install it on my other hard drive (d) so that I can manage my digital scrapbooking files. I know that I could just create 2 catalogues on my c drive but I have a friend who did this and it SLOWED her speed way down. I use the one on my c: drive to scrapbook from and its already slow. If I added the digital stuff it would be just as slow. When I try to install 4.0 on my other drive, it won't allow me to. It immediately picks up the one on my c: drive and only allows me to repair that one. No option to install on a different drive. I'm not very savvy so I'm not sure if there is a way around it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

When you install an application (any application) on a Windows PC, many system and support files are written to the Windows folder, regardless of where you choose to install the program itself, otherwise the application would not run.
Therefore, even if you could install a second copy of PSE4 on to a different drive, those same support files would still need to be written to the Windows folder and you'd get all manner of error messages as many of those support/system files can't be overwritten while windows is running. Hence the PSE4 installer won't allow it.
PSE4 does need a fair amount of installed RAM (512MB at least, to allow for Windows to run as well as PSE4 at the same time) so if you have only 256MB you will struggle. You may also find that a regular defrag will help to keep it running smoothly.
