Thoughts/suggestions?

Here is a picture I want to fix a little. I’d like to hear some suggestions on what to do. I’ve played a little and was not thrilled with the results.

I was able to “repair” the shirt on the kid in red. I tried to use the warming filter to adjust the tones of the faces, but that kind of made the blue in the shirt duller. There is part of the white in the shirt that is “blown out” and I was having a hard time fixing that.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Thanks!

Just some thoughts,

For the white in the shirt, you might try selecting that area, and then go to Enhance/ Adjust Lighting/ Brightness/Contrast and lower the Brightness a little.

As the the blue and red in the shirts, a neat way to pop or fade those colors is this:
Add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer. For blue fade or pop, where it says Edit: Master, change Master to blue and adjust Saturation which should mostly specific for the blue. For red fade or pop, then change Edit to red and adjust Saturation which will now be mostly specific for the red. You could do something with the Lightness, but the blues and reds were my focus here.

Let me know how you do. It is a great picture.

Hi Andy,

Great image. It does seem a tad overexposed. I would start with a levels adjustment with attention to the shadows side (left). You could also try a "brightness/contrast" adjustment layer to add a little contrast and then use the layer mask to paint it away in areas which become to contrasted (white portion of shirt, and that boy's face).

Oh, and sharpen it some.

Good luck. let us have a peek when you're done.

I think it just need a little gausina blur. Sometimes depth of field is a bad thing. The background was too sharp.
