In the tutorial about creating slide mounts, in step 5 it says to "With the white shape layer active, cick beside the slide layer to link the two layers together." yeah, I'm clearly not getting this.
One thing I see different on my screen is I have little eyes on each layer but I don't have the little brush or lock area on my layers. Those squares are not there.
At any rate, I would really like to actually learn to do something and finish it.

Leslie,
if you are using PSE 4 you don't have the little chain to link the layers.
If you wish to link 2 layers with one above or below the other, select one and just hold the shift key and click on the layer you wish to link. If the layers are not together use the control key.

Me again - same tutorial. I successfully made the slide frame and actually put pictures behind two. On the one I rotated slightly, the lines are not straight. What have I done wrong?

Hi Leslie ...
Sometimes when you rotate things in Elements the line can look as though it isn't straight.. its often just the resolution that you are viewing it at.
Get the zoom tool and zoom in a little ... does it look OK when you do that ?
If not then I would suggest that you post an image at Pixentral so that we can see it :)

Leslie,
do you mean that the outer lines of the slide looks slightly jagged.
Try viewing your image at print size, you should find the lines are straight.
It's something to do with the way that monitors show things.
If that doesn't work let us know and either I or someone with more knowledge will help you out.

It is still not straight. I have no idea about Pixentral or how to attach the picture.

Ok i found the Pixentral (she can learn) and uploaded the picture. What I saw there is perfect. What I see on my monitor is that the 1st frame I made was good (also not transformed) but the 2nd and 3rd look jagged. Guess it is the monitor? On a picture that size (scrapbook) it would be a GIGANTIC waste of ink if it came out bad and I couldn't really preview it. Hmmm. Always new vistas of confusion.http://http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=15NDtDk0rF4a1TFvqW9IPqPLqu2X1

Try this one and if it doesn't work - well, guess I really don't know what I'm doing.

Leslie,
All I'm seeing on Pixentral is a very big grey area.
#1 Did you save for web? I suspect you might have tried uploading too big a picture. General rule of thumb is to make the longest size no bigger than 700 pixels.
#2 Once you've got the picture up on Pixentral highlight the second link below your picture (labelled forum) & copy & paste that directly into your message. That way you'll get a clickable thumbnail in your message. And Pauline taught me a useful tip to highlight something and that is to triple click on it, that way you don't miss out any of the url by mistake.

Ok that picture didn't work out so I will try again. Unfortuneately, the file is huge because I am trying to do a photo album page. I have no idea if you can zoom out or not.http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1joZr262nzc8h9l3T3pFFcSSumsIhc

Leslie ...
It should be just fine when you print it out ... monitors are a different resolution and it sometime looks like lines are jagged but they really are not.
Try zooming in ever further and you will see what I mean :) ... suddenly the line will look fine.
By the way what a delightful image ... and its going to look great printed out :)

Thanks for the help. I had already sent the second one before I saw your note. I will try again!http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1joZr262nzc8h9l3T3pFFcSSumsIhc_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1joZr262nzc8h9l3T3pFFcSSumsIhc)

Leslie,
I see your thumbnail, but it's not showing up on Pixentral for me:( Could be the size of it.
I notice it is 3600 x 3600. No matter how big my file is, if I want to show something on the web I always make a resize for web copy as well.

I can see that it would be prudent to do that, thanks. I appreciate all the input to help me know my picture will print out well AND a new skill with uploading pictures. Thank you to all of you who stopped by to help.
Blessings,
Leslie
