I have seen this commented on many times in the posts here but for the life of me I do not see it in my program. I have looked and looked but nope not there...(of course I know I will probably get to eat those words...) Anybody have a screen shot that they can show me? Thanks

Anna,

You only get a little (f) when you have applied a layer style ... :)

you will see that little cursive ' f ' 'after' you apply a layer style. It will appear on the right side of the layer in the layers palette...the layer in which you applied the style. Double click the cursive ' f ' to bring up style options :)

When you say applied a layer style...do you mean when you type text and use say, a drop shadow is it suppose to show up then?

Anna,

Yes if you apply a drop shadow then the little f will show in the layers palette.

Also try drawing a circle with the lasso tool, do Edit>Cop and Edit>Paste then apply any layer style ... once you have applied it the little f will appear in the layers palette. Double click on it and you will be able to adjust the effect.

I feel so silly  After trying what you said Wendy I still don't see it.
Could you tell me the exact spot where I would find it?

Just want to add you ladies (Wendy and Jodi) are quick on the draw and I do appreciate it :D

Anna,

Have a look at this screen capture, at the lower right corner, in the Layers Palette. The text layer shows a little f at the far right.

Anna,

The position is shown by the red arrow in this screenshot:

Mike,
Neat little photo border technique. Looks like a video training idea to me!

OK, now that that is sorted out what is the 'f' for? Hmm that kind of sounds wrong but what is the 'f' for?

Sandie,

When a layer style has been applied .... double clicking on the little f gives you a chance to adjust some parts of the style.

I think Sandie is asking what the "f" actually stands for . . . and I don't have the answer :?
