Does anyone know if there is a tutorial on how to draw in PSE? If not, would it be possible to see a tutorial on how to do this? This is something like what Wendy is doing with her jewel box where you are drawing instead of editing a picture. Thanks, Terri

Hi ...

It looks to me as though it was done in Illustrator ... although you could do it in Elements.

I don't know of a tutorial but basically its just individual images (like custom shapes), each one on its own layer ... filled with a solid colour and then a bevel added to some of them.

The dots could be done with a brush and the bridge colour de done using a briush and straingt lines ..

Layers is the key to doing it ... the individual items are reasonable simple to do, so just concentrate on one item at a time :)

Terri do you live on a boat?? And, where??? Kim, Not yet but one day. Of course, I have a boat in my driveway that I sit in every day but I don't think this one counts.

It's funny... my hubby was watching a show last night about house boats. Well, he called them house boats they were more like yachts. He calls me in there ready to sell everything we own and go out and buy one. Some of them where really fine. But, still not me. He lost his camp in Rita and is still going through withdrawls...

Wendy, thanks for the head start! Don't have Illustrator but will try in PSE. I just finished the layers course so this will give me some practice :)

Hi ...

You should be able to do it just fine in Elements ... just do one thing at a time and please let us see your image when you have done it :)

When it comes to the chance to learn something new about Photoshop Elements, I do not let titles and location of tutorials get in the way.

There is a great tutorial at Adobe Kids entitled "Learning how to draw using Photoshop Elements".

http://www.adobe.com/education/digkids/lessons/selection_tool.html

It is based on using selection tools in a very creative way. With the Selections, custom shapes, Effects, warp Text, and throwing in a little bit of everything, I think you could come very close to reproducing the picture that you posted. I do not know when, but I think I will try.

ATR! Thank you for the great site. :) I have never stumbled across this one in my extensive searches for tutorials. Thank you so much for taking the time to share.
