Tyler,

I have just tried it and it seems OK. Have you downloaded the latest version of Quicktime?

Hi Wendy, I just tried again with no luck. I get a message saying I have the correct version of video player, then it loads, but no "picture" when I play, just sound. I was able to get the video portion prior to today. I just this morning joined the membership subscription, and now unable to get any video tip to play. Again, the sound is fine, but not picture. Thanks for you help, Wendy. Tyler

Have you changed something on your computer (screen resolution, new hardware, updated the video drivers) ?

Are you using Quicktime ? If so, I'd try to uninstall and reinstall, perhaps there's a corrupted file that prohibits the video from playing.

Thanks Ray, I did an uninstall and reinstall of Quick Time and still no luck getting video. I could get quick time video to work untill today when I became a subscriber and then no more video. Help. Thanks.

This is actually a common problem with Quick Time, here is one thing that worked for others:

 Go to Control Panel and click on the QuickTime Icon.

 Click on the down arrow to and choose Video Settings from the list.

 Uncheck "Enable DCI" and "Enable DirectDraw"

Hi Mike, did what you said to try, and still no luck. Sound is there, but no video (picture). I am still lost without QuickTime video. Thanks, Tyler

OK... undo the changes I suggested...

I'll see what I can find on this...

Some other areas that may be causing the problem:

This is an obvious one I know but... does the connection speed setting in Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences match your actual connection speed?

Have you checked that Quick Time works ok outside of this or any other website? It maybe the browser plug-in that is corrupt or not installed properly..

What firewall are you using and is there a security setting that blocks animations?

Hi Mike and Wendy, I checked different settings last night and today I am able to receive the "video" portion on some tips, but not others. Today I can see the following: "2 views', "Layer Tip", "Tattoo Arm", but still unable to receive the video portion of: "One Click Wonders", and "Brushes, Part 1". So-- I know "Quick Time" is working on some and not others, could it be that the ones I cannot view were ones I tried to load and view yesterday (unsuccessfully) and that the ones I loaded today are working? Thanks for your continued help, I hope to figure out the puzzle today. Tyler

Hi Tyler ...

It does sound strange ...

I'm afraid I'm not a lot of use on this one as I am a Mac User but hopefully Mike should be along soon :)

I don't have access, yet, to this portion of the site, so what I'm going so say is pure speculation. Could it be possible that those video were not encoded with all the same CODEC ? Someone from the management could answer this question. That would explain why some work and some don't...

FYI, I'm having the exact same problem Tyler is having. Most videos work fine, some don't. My Quicktime is up to date and I've tried various settings also. (WinXP, SP2)

Can you please pm or email an email address to me. I want to send you a movie for you to play just using Quick Time, rather than the web browser plug-in.

Goofup, which videos can you not view properly?

The only two I can't see is the "More Powerful Than You Thougt" and "Layers Part 1". All the rest work just fine.

Have you saved one of the videos to your hard drive and tried to play if off line?

There was a similar thread a little while ago:

Might be worth checking if there was anything in that:

One thing that we need to try is whether this problem is being caused by the Browser Plug-In. We can do this by playing one of the videos in Quicktime off line.

So, you can either download one and save it to your hard drive yourself then try it, or I can send you one of the videos that you are having problems with - just to try it.

Let me know... :)

Mike just solved my problem. I downloaded the latest version of QT (6.52?) for about the fifth time and it worked!! I now can see video as well as hear audio on all of the "video tips". Thanks Mike, Tyler

Tyler,

I'm glad that we sorted this and you can now watch all of the videos. Some cool tutorials have been added to the Subscribers Area :)

For anyone else who has this problem, the cause lies with either the Quick Time version or a corrupt installation. The best thing to is download a fresh version from the Apple site, turn off antivirus and ad ware software and then install QuickTime from scratch.
