Hi, When I go to save as in elements 3 to change a jpeg to a tif. I can then no longer open the file. I am prompted " invalid jpeg marker type is found". When I later try to open the file it still shows it as a jpeg but at the tif file size ( 17.2).???? FB :?:

I just tried it and it worked fine for me - are you sure that it had the .tif extension when saved? I left the TIF save options at their defaults (no Image Compression, IBM PC byte order.)

When you "save as...", do you actually change the file type to TIFF or simply change the extension ? An invalide JPEG marker is, often but not always, the sign of someone simply changing the name of the file, say from TIFF to JPEG, or something alike.

As it always acted like that (PSE3) ? If not, perhaps should you try to reset the preferences (press and hold CTRL-ALT-SHIFT on Win, Command - Alt - Shift on Macintosh), then answer Yes to the question.
