When I place my memory card in my card reader, the album automatically opens. The issue is that all pictures are pre checked to indicate I want to copy all of the pictures. Is there a way, or if not can there be a way to default to where I can choose all pictures or only the the ones I want? As I see it now, if I only want a few pictures off of my card, I have to deselect one at a time all of the many other pictures on the card.

Hi: can you clarify just a couple of points:

1) when you say that "the album opens automatically', what is the
'album'? Is it part of the software that came with your camera?
What camera are you using?

2) What OS are you using, Windows XP, 98, Mac?

I am on Windows XP and use the Camera & Scanner Wizard to
handle my downloads; one of the options at the bottom of
the photos is to 'deselect all' so that only selected shots can be
downloaded.

If you can get back with these answers I can try to help you.
Regards - Mike

You can prevent the album automatically opening (actually it's the Photo Downloader that opens) by going to Edit, Preferences and under the Camera and Card Reader section uncheck the box that says Use Adobe Photo DownLoader. Now when you insert a card, depending on the operating system you have, you should get a choice of the things you can do.

If you do use the Photo Downloader (and I do as it works well for me) all you have to do to deselect is right click and you'll see an Uncheck All option. The "shortcut" is Ctrl+Shift+A although I find rightclicking even shorter! As a general rule always try right clicking - you'll be surprised at the things you'll find you can do

Yes, it is the adobe photo downloader ( I was associating it with the album portion of pse3) I don't know why I didn't think of "right click" but it worked. Thanks. I was actually using another program to download and manage my images. Maybe the adobe downloader will be friendlier to me now...I hate to say it here but I still prefer ACDSee for "management" such as viewing, copying, resizing, etc. but I am trying to "convert" myself to PSE3 for that function.

Again, thanks for the help.
