I have watched the video showing how to lighten an image uing blend modes.
What is the advantage to this method over using a levels adjustment to the image.?

Hi Brio ...

The real advantage is that its more flexible ... when you use the blend mode method you are able to lower the blended layer opacity in order to fine tune it. Plus if one part becomes too light/dark you are able to mask out (or erase) that part to stop it changing ....

Levels is much more of a blunt instrument ...
