I need help regrading icons for category tags!

Hello.........I'm new here and I just purchased PSE3 yesterday. I mainly purchased it for the "organizer", as I already own PSCS. Can someone please tell me if I can add new icons to the icon list for tags, as what is offered there is quite limited.

Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Pamela, :)

You can't add to the list of icons :( but you can create your own icon to use on a particular tag: :)

When creating a new Tag:

:arrow: Under the Tag tab, click "New" and then choose New Tag.

:arrow: Click on the "Edit Icon" button. and then the Import button.

:arrow: You can then search for an image to use for the tag.

Once the tag is attached to photos, you can edit the icon...

:arrow: Select the tag, then choose the pencil icon to bring up the Edit Tag window.

:arrow: As above, click on the "Edit Icon" button. This time you have two options - Import a new image as above or choose one of the photos that the tag is attached to.

:arrow: To find a photo either use the arrow keys either side of the "Find" button to scroll through the pictures or click Find to display all pictures with that tag.

:arrow: You can select a particular area of a photo for the tag icon by moving the cropping box.

:arrow: Or you can use Import as described above to choose an image that isn't in the photos you tagged.

The category icons are stored as png files in a folder called caticons which is in the shared_assets folder. They are 20 by 20 pixel images with names like C_Box_Lg_N.png. I did manage to create a new one by opening an existing one, erasing the image, using the shape tool to add a new one (in my case a green tree) and saving as C_Tree_N.png in the caticon folder.

You can then create a new category (called trees in this case) and the tree image just created will show as an icon image option that you can use.

So it looks like you can add any category you want with any icon you want to create.
