Hi all!
Well, I finally got paid real money for photography!!!
This couple I know asked if I could take a "family portrait" for their "resume" to adopt a second child. I told them I hadn't done anything like this before, but I would give it a try. Here are a couple of the pics I took. I didn't do anything fancy to them--framing or anything because that's not what she wanted.

Sherry - Great photos. Like everyone else, I particularly love the one on the beach. Several years ago I took one of my son and granddaughter much like that. My husband said, "Why did you take it from the back? You can't see who they are?" It's one of my favorites. To me it shows love. I hope they loved them as much as I do.

Nancy,
It just feels good to have someone that can see & feel what you are trying to accomplish/or have accomplished. And helps to raise the self confidence so you aren't afraid to go forward & try new things.:)

Some times I might catch my husband walking by on his way from the washroom and say, "look at this'. I hear a 'that's great" but wonder how he could possibly tell when he barely stepped in the door. When I won for my challenge I e-mailed him the picture. I got the word "excellent" back. Of course he has no clue or doesn't care about what the prize even is. I guess I should just consider myself lucky that he doesn't mind what I do. I'm into arts and crafts, he's into sports. We have two things in common, our kids, and that we both like to read. :) Well it's worked for almost 22 years now so I won't complain.
At least my 13 year old son takes great interest in what I'm working on and loves critiquing. I know that will all change when girls are no longer gross. :D

Sherrie the warmth in those photos is very well captured....... quality family time is another thought that came to mind :)
The second one is my favourite, it really captures the essence of a close family sharing the love they have for one another.
Great work and congratulations!!

Hey Sherry, looks like I have myself a job too, but I probably won't be taking any pay for it. A friend called today and asked if I would take some pictures of her and her daughter for her grade 8 graduation. I know I probably won't just take some pictures and print one but will probably do some little creation for her. I figured she just wanted me to take the pictures and she would get them printed but she wants me to print an enlargement........boy that puts the pressure on! :D

Pauline,
Yes, to tell you the truth my knees were shaking when I started taking the pics of the family, then I calmed down. I figured if I didn't get anything good for them at least it was experience & I told them right off the bat, I wasn't used to doing this kind of photography.
I was telling someone that I had done the family portrait, now she wants me to do one for her---her 2 white pekingnese, & 2 Shiz Tzus (for pay). Can you imagine rounding up 4 dogs for a photoshoot??? We"ll see what happens!!
Just Take a bunch of pics, don't forget to get some candid ones too. You are much better at making creations than I am (Or ever thought about being)--so whatever kind of page you do for her will be great!

oh geez Sherry, I hope the dogs are well trained and obediant!! A little trick (if they will do a sit and stay) is to have the owner show them a treat to get them looking perky and interested, and have her perhaps off to the side so that they aren't looking right at the camera. Also and here's a big one..........get down on their level. So many people take pictures of animals looking down at them, but I'm sure you already knew that one since you've taken some phenominal photos -------of course musicians aren't the same as little dogs are they?
My friend barely knows her way around her camera, so anything I do she'll think is great. :D I want to have something nice for Danielle though. She's a good kid. Her sister and my eldest daughter were best friends all through public school, and when they graduated, I did up a cd for Kirstie of their grad pictures too.

of course musicians aren't the same as little dogs are they? Pauline, is that a loaded question or what? I'll take the fifth!!!
Before I took pics of musicans, I went to the zoo or wlid animal park every week, I wanted to be an animal photographer (Wild, not pets). Now I practice on the cats!

Congratulats Sherry! You did a wondeful job!
Although I love the scene of them walking on the beach, my favorite has to be the last one because I can see the excitement & joy on their faces.
