Recently upgraded from a Coolpix 990 to an Olympus c-8080, so I'm fairly new to using Raw setting. However, it didn't take me long to see the benefits. I store my photos in iPhoto and have a trial version of Elements. I drag a Raw file out of iPhoto onto Elements (in the dock) and it opens perfectly in the Raw edit window. Looks much improved. But when I press OK, the photo displays in the Elements edit window but seems to have lost the improvements I made in the Raw window. The first few Raw photos I opened didn't seem to do this. They would keep the improvements I made in the Raw window. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The first I'd try is to reset the preferences. Try to press and hold Command - Shift - Option immediately after you've double-clicked on Photoshop Elements icon. Answer yes to the question. Then see if this fixes the matter.

Regarding my problems with RAW format, it seems by choosing Color Settings/Full Color Management in the Elements prefence options, my RAW files remain vibrant after clciking OK and reopening in the Elements edit window.

after opening in RAW and doing your fixing etc. you have to save it in PSD( or JPEG but that will lose things each time you open). IF you try to save in raw, I think you will lose things but could be wrong and besides, RAW takes up huge room on your hard drive.
Are you using 16 bit or 8 bit. IF possible use 16 bit and save in 16 bit and you will have superior pictures BUT I am not sure you can even do that in Elements.

You cannot save it as RAW!
Hi there, after opening a RAW file you cannot save it as a RAW, only as TIFF or PSD or JPEG etc basically anything you want but not as RAW. This i find really good because i have one image as my negative as it were (RAW) and then using the same file number but with a different ending i can have all my edited versions.
Best wishes Neil
