Order of photos in Organiser

I'm sure that this question has been asked a zillion times, but I can't find an answer....

I have just uploaded over 130 photos from my camera to the Organiser. Why aren't they in the same order that they were when I look at them on the camera, ie in date order as I took them? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they are placed within Organiser, all the pictures are mixed up. Why? And is there some way to get them in the correct order?

In my case they are in the order taken because they are arranged by file names -- are you renaming them when you upload?

No. They were all taken over a 6 day period and then just moved from camera to Organiser. Then I assigned a tag to them. But they're not in the order taken.

I was just checking out my organizer -- it seems that pictures taken with a different camera over a period of days intermingled with the ones I shot with my Rebel -- at least they are tagged so I can sort them out if need be. So I guess I have a similar situation.

The filenames from the camera should have sorted them; has always been the case for me -- but now I wonder how accurate it really is.

I did some more looking -- and all of the intermingled files have the same date since I renamed them moving them all to one folder since they were taken from CDs -- so date and file name sequence should have been enough to order them properly.

I don't know why the dates would be all over the place! It's supposed to sort them by date. In the lower left hand corner of the Organizer screen, there is a little box to change the way you want them sorted. See if changing the setting will help you. I'm new to PSE4 also, you may have already tried this. Good Luck

When I load mine they definitely go in date order. Even if I do an edit and save it - the saved edit loads into the organizer on the date it was taken. Same thing when I load from my two cameras they go into the organizer by date even if I don't load from my camera in that order.

Did you burn a disc of your photos ( before you did anything else)after you sent them to the organizer?? If you did, just insert the disc, and you are good to go. You can than delete the first collection of photos.
