I have my frame and picture in place, but when I try to add text, it won't let me :( . It just gives me a small square cursor and each time I type something, it ends up just being a line. I have even tried adding a layer, but that doesn't work either. I have tried changing fonts, but that doesn't work either. What am I doing wrong? I have my new layer for text just above the picture layer.

Hi ...
Just check that your text colour is not the same as the background you are typing on :) and try increasing the size of the font ..
Let me know if either of those work ... if not we will think of something else :)

Bayla ...
I'm getting quite worried .... snowflakes were being made last week and now its Christmas Cards. :)
Actually if you miss out the small window frames and use a different shape to emboss it works well for other cards .. here is one I did for a 60th Birthday:

Well it seems to me that now is a good time to get started -- afterall, haven't you heard about Christmas in July? Or is it an American thing?
Best practice early so you'll be ready to do it up right when the time comes.

Wendy -- I never count the days -- just wait until the week of Christmas and do my shopping then. I find it far less stressful than doing it along throughout the year.

Okay Okay, yes it is me that are making all the Valentine's Day card and now the Christmas card. I figure by the time I really get it mastered, Christmas will be here.
I think I have figured out part of the problem. In step 9 where it say to "Make a rectangular selection about the size of your frame", instead I'm making it the size of the new blank file. Then the rest of the blue shows through. Another thing that is frustrating me is, in Step 7 when it says to duplicate the layer after you have made the first bar. I do that 3 times but then don't know whether I'm suppose to click on the first original Bar layer and move that to create the second through fourth bar or if I'm suppose to go to each new copy layer and do it from there. It works but I'm having a heck of a time and then after merging and putting in my bevel, sometimes it looks like the bars are on top, which makes it look funny. I guess I will keep playing with it and eventually hit on something right. :D

Hi Litespeed ...
Its a good idea to practise and make cards now ... that way you have your cards done but also tutorials are all about learning and that is the most important thing. :)
Glad that you sorted out the first part of your problem now lets look at those bars ..
OK then so you have made one bar and need to duplicate it three times ... It really doesn't matter which of the layers you duplicate as long as it is a layer with a bar on it ... so I just duplicate the one that I am on at the time :) )
At that stage you have the four bars ... so just move each one of them into place so that it looks like a frame and then when you are happy with how they look merge them into one layer.
When you say that sometime it looks like they are above ... if you look at step six the bar layer goes below the frame. Did you do that ??
Do let us see your card when it is finished :)

I think I but the bars frame under the frame layer, but I will check. One other thing, in Step 7 it says to merge the "six bars", I only see 4, am I missing something?

Hi Litespeed ...
No you are not missing anything ... I think that the tut originally had six bars but it looked too crowded so I changed it to four :)

I think I finally figured it out. It seems to look ok. I made sure my bars layers was beneath the frame layer and I made the "Card" layer exactly the size as the frame. The reason I couldn't write on it was because I didn't have my "Card" layer selected--boy this can get complicated, but it is fun once you get it right. Thanks for all your help everyone! :p
