I first saw the link for www.canvasondemand.com through a military website (our shopping site www.aafes.com) and I could get a discount. I have wanted to try it for a long time. Then I heard it mentioned on a Photoshop TV podcast too. I finally ordered a print 8x10 and got the second one half off (one for hubby and one for mother inlaw). The quality is quite good! My only "negative" comment is that the color is a bit drab. It is a pic of my kids with a beautiful blurred foliage background (light/dark greens). The whole image was nicely saturated, but the print was a bit dry in my opinion. I do hope to contact the company and ask if I should do things differently - I dont know, maybe they have an "auto fix" option I said "no" to??? But I do highly recommend them just the same. Makes great gifts. I am surprising my hubby with this print for Father's Day.
If anyone has used this site, I'd love to hear from you. I'd be happy to post some sample pics of the finish, etc. if anyone is interested.

I'd like to see a picture of the finished product vs the original picture. I don't know if that would be a fair comparison, but it might give me an idea of the difference. I'm very interested in this.

Well, it is evening here, so I will do that tomorrow during the day. Now that I look back on the original psd file, I may have lightened the shadows a TAD too much. Darn.
Today I also rec'd my 11x14" lustre poster printed on Fuji paper from clubphoto.com of the same picture--again, a little too light overall. Sigh. Live and learn - i started at the silly picture so long I suppose. But when I ran an Auto Contrast it didnt change. Hmmm. Guess I just like a saturated higher contrast image.
SO - I will get snapshots of it all tomorrow!!

Wow - they are pricey. I bought some inkjet canvas paper at OfficeMax and printed some 8x10's and they turned out beautiful. I did one of my daughters engagement photo 4 years ago and it is still hanging on my wall. I haven't noticed any fading or anything. You might want to look into that unless you want larger sizes. It was only around $20 for 10 sheets of the canvas.

Canvas paper?? Wow. That's what I miss when I am overseas LOL. Well, that sounds different though--it looks and feels like canvas that you paint on. Well, I got an overall 15% discount and the second one was % off. So with shipping and all on two 8x10s with the black frame it was a total $115. Yeah, ouch one way or another. Just kicking myself I didnt pay attention to the lightness... live and learn.

I guess I didn't say that right. It is canvas that is coated for inkjets. I did a search and here is the canon canvas. I'm pretty sure that's what mine was, although it has been a while since I bought / used it.

I know Epson and Southworth also used to have some though I haven't looked recently.

I would be very interested in seeing this. I know Costco will put your prints on canvas, as well as my local Mom & Pop photo store. But I would like to be able to do it for myself sometime.
Beatrice,
My company (my brother & sister's) sells to aafes.com!!!! (we wholesale decorative metal accessories for the house. Like metal baskets, candleholders etc....)

That's cool Sherry! Yeah, i got the 15% off and 50% off additional cavas' via aafes.
I finally got some pics loaded before my hubby got home (again, this is a surprise gift for Father's Day) - there are 18 pics to view. I hope it gives everyone an idea of the quality. I think you will see the color is a bit faded--MY ERROR. See what you think compared to the original JPG file posted.

Bea,
What cute kids--it will be a wonderful gift!!!!
The canvas looks pretty cool too. I'm going to have to look into this more.
How long will you be in Japan? Where did you live before?

That is a wonderful picture and from what I can tell it really does not look too light at all. I bet he will be thrilled with this gift. I'm like you in preferring a deeply saturated picture. When my Big Cat Rescue posters were printed they were a little light in my opinion. However, everyone else thinks they are just fine.

Beatrice - Thank you for taking such great pictures to show the quality. That really helps us to know what the product is truly all about.
Your picture of the kids is just wonderful! What a great Father's Day gift! He will be very pleased -- overwhelmed. At least, I would be if I were him.

Thanks for checking it out everyone and you're welcome Norm. I like the second and third and even the sixteenth opinion! I think it is a great product and will know to check my colors better next time. I will run out of wall space though soon enough--all the Japan landscape shots alone that I could get made...geez! I'd like to order in pairs to save 50% on the second print. I laughed at their prices for adding brush strokes or b/w etc.-- I can do it for FREE with PSE ! Hey that rhymes!! LOL
I will be in Japan for just over another year 'til about August 2007. My heart will ache to leave... so I aim to capture the most I possibly can in pictures and videos. I know the day will come that I can sit and relive it all....sigh. Now to finally get my MAC I want to create some awesome slideshows to watch as movies and get authentic Japan music in the background playing....... hopefully a day soon coming. I keep wearing my hubby down with that one and whine "I want my mac...." :P

I have used the canvas for inkjet printer, and found the colour is not very bright. I like the effect for photos of people, gives them a misty appearance. Can be bought very reasonably from EBay. Enjoy. Jean
