Hey all. My hubby did it again...he surprised me with a p&s Canon SD700IS camera for our actual anniversary (June 9). He is so GOOD to me!! :p
Well, after two or three days of fartin' around with the camera there are things I just LOVE about it (mostly the realy fun stuff about it). But, cant deal with certain things. I dont find the consistent quality images for the price. I was also getting really weird "lens flare" bullseye shaped dots on flash shots INdoors. Weird. The movie audio is really scratchy too. Too bad--cost too much and overall quality doesnt match IMHO.
I just boxed up the SD700 and sent it back with hubby to the store. My next attempt will be the Canon S80. Dpreview.com gave it a highly recommended. Elsewhere I find good stats, etc. Oh, I hope this one does the trick. I want just a point 'n shoot, but find I cannot live without the Av, Tv, or other manual modes--I am too critical to settle for less. Maybe the S80 at 8mp will give image quality an extra boot too.
If this one doesn't work out...I just might pull the last few strands outta my head and start using SPF 50 so my scalp doesnt burn this summer. I didnt think it would be so agonizing!! I am holding off going back to Sony - I really want to get a Canon... not sure why... but I do.
