Gary, I did not watch the match, just got the results off the net this morning :D
Sherry, Nobody has been eliminated yet, it is only the first round of matches being played.

Don't get exicted - America lost today. For some reason - we Americans just do not adapt well to games that require the use of our heads as launching pads.:p We are a more physical, hands on nation. Give us the ball in our hands and we'll kick butt.:D

Karen, I watched..........but then my bedtime usually is about midnight or after. Eight minutes to go andI thought we were gone, and then 3 goals. I hear this morning that the Egyptian referee has apologised for allowing the Japanese goal, said he made a mistake in allowing it!!
Sherry.....yes the U.S. did lose.
It's not our main ball game either Nancy. Australian Rules Football is almost like a religion here!

Not only did you beat Japan but as I type Australia is now #1 in Group F ... unfortunately Brazil is also in group F.
As an aside ... one of my very good observing buddies and drinking mates who lives just around the corner but spends most of his time down under just wrote a kids book about Australian Skies ...

Grant, the whole of Australia realizes that Brazil is in the same group. But, quoting my son "if Australia win a couple of games and make it to the next round, I will be happy"

Yes Grant, we've had our one moment of glory. I think we all realise that it is just that ......ONE moment!:D I'm not a follower, but apparently we have only made it past the qualifying rounds once before and that was 30 years ago when we didn't manage to even kick a goal! So I guesss that last night was a bit like a grand final for Australia.

Hi,
England won their opening game but is was a very boring game.
I like Aussie Rules and American Football.
How the heck do they run with all that body armour on, in th UK our Rugby players (both league and union) wear very little protective padding.
