Hi ...

... and welcome to the forum :)

I'm a Mac user so I can't help on this one but I am sure that one of the Windows users will be allong soon and will be able to help you sort it out.

If you have no history of a catalog -- try creating a new catalog to see if that will solve your problem. You can name it anything you choose within the naming conventions of files.

Normally Elements makes a catalog as part of the install process; this seems not to have been done.

Background information

When you start Photoshop Album for the first time after you upgrade from a previous version, Photoshop Album locates the My Catalog.psa file and makes a copy called My Catalog-1.psa. After copying the catalog, Photoshop Album converts My Catalog.psa to Photoshop Album 2.0 format and opens it. If the My Catalog.psa file or its thumbnail cache is corrupt, Photoshop Album may not start or may return an error.

Is this your first time use PSE, or just PSE 4.0 version? If you used prior versions, you should have a catalog.

I looked and while various file searched did not find it (!), my catalog is located in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs. Try using Explorer or My Computer to see if your catalog exists somewhere.

From PSE, select File>Catalog>Open and see if that shows a catalog that exists which can be opened. If it exists, go ahead and open it and see if it's the catalog you are looking for.

Let us know if any of this helps or if you are still stuck. GL.
