Hi Kimi
I just had a chance to check the galleries. Gosh you miss three days and it takes half an hour. I love your challenge image. I would have that done on canvas as art for the wall. Love the colors. You are really doing well. What did you mean by making your own brushes? I didn't even know you could - way beyond me at the moment. Anyway well done.

Shari, that is a beautiful image of Kimi's, isn't it? It's great when you finally get the hang of something and it works properly the first time, isn't it?

Thanks you ladies... This is my 5th or maybe my 6th time doing Grant's Challenge. I also try to do the weekly photo theme. I have learned alot!!;)
I took the picture and made pieces of it into brushes. I did add 4 others but that is allowed.
Shari, here is the link to the challenge. It started today so you have all week to try. Grant post a picture and you just have to photoshop it in some way. It is still early but by the end of the week, there will be some really interesting pics. You can go to thread for the challenges and take a look at last weeks. (Challenge #174) Great Stuff!!

In the subscriber videos there is one down toward the bottom about making your signature into a brush. Easy as Pie. I promise you if I can do it, you can do it. But you do need to show us when you get it done. :p :p

Kimi
I just saw that in the challenge gallery and thought it was very creative and artistic. Very nice job.
Shari
I was wondering where you were - hadn't seen you around for a few days. Nice to hear from you. You can make just about anything into a brush. I have even done pictures as brushes. Once you have something you want to repeat several times just go to Edit - Define brush and name it. I'm pretty sure Wendy did a tut on it. I think she used the little conversation hearts you find around valentines day.

Kimi - I just loved the project you did with your own brushes!! I don't really understand how to do the Challenges. Is there a photo posted somewhere that one is supposed to fiddle with? I've been on the Challenges page but I don't get it... Do you download it from somewhere? How? For example, what is the deal with the one with all the photos of the Brirtish soldier? I think I must be being dense again.. It looks fun.
How did you do that frame around your "Wanna Play?" I love it!! I still have not figured out how to do nice frames. I can pretty regularly make a mat but the frames are always "hit or miss".

Andie ...
Each week Grant posts a link to the Challenge on the forum ... you just follow the link, get the image and then do something (anything  ) with it. You can use all of the image or just parts of the image ... its up to you.
The first photo you see there is the Challenge image and the others are entries from people.
The idea of the Challenge is that you are challenging yourself to make something artistic you are not competing with others ... so levels of experience just don't matter.
Grant always need a new supply of images to use so we send them to him ... this one is a French Soldier and is taken at the museum in the Belgium town of Waterloo which was the site of the battle of Waterloo.
When you have done your image you send it to Grant ... here are instruction on how you need to do that:

Look forward to seeing your entries :)

Andie, It took me a while to understand myself. I watched for a couple of weeks until finally the light bulb went off. You just go to the challenge page copy the photo of the soldier and paste it into Elements. Then change something, anything. Then go back to Grant's main page and the rules give you a size for your image. (that is the only rule):p Go to the weclome page and click on Entry Challenge, add your file and send to Grant. Of course there are directions from Grant about what to do but, I still didn't get it. It is like Wendy said.. It is not what the other have done. It is a challenge to see what you can learn on your own. A chance to use your imagination, step outside the box. It is wonderful to see how everyone has a different idea all from the same picture. :D I do hope you will try...
