Just wanted to post this thread to reassure myself that I'm NOT addicted to this forum. After all....... this morning for example I've managed to be the ultimate in multi-skilling........ I've been posting away since before breakfast (first rule of thumb is always turn the computer on as soon as the feet hits the floor) and inbetween times I managed the usual housework plus I've made a lemon tart and a pavlova for a birthday tomorrow. So it's pretty obvious isn't it?........... I AM NOT ADDICTED.........:D :D

No more so than me.:p Look at my post times today - everything from 6:00 a.m. to ummm.... it's now 11 pm and I have to work tomorrow. Snuck quite a few in at work too.;) If I was addicted I would have skipped work to keep posting. :D

Robyn,
They don't really make Pavlova over here, but whenever my KIWI friends are here on a visit they make it for us!!:)

It can't be that bad if you still have a job, or you're getting other things done. :) I'm starting to resent my employer for keeping me so darned busy lately. :(

I'm retired Norm......retired 5 years ago, and love it!!
Sherry.....yes pavlova is a bit of an Aussie culinary 'icon'.....loaded with sugar and calories of course - just how I like it!

Remember that song that went something like - I only cry once a day . . . all day long . . . No, I am not addicted either, I am only on here once a day . . . . ;)

I'm not an addict either ... it just seems logical to turn the computer on when I go past the study on my way downstairs to make coffee.
... OK I do take my coffee in there and just glance at the forum before I get dressed ( an hour or so later)
... and I have been known to pop upstairs during the way just to check how things are here.
Ummmm ... and maybe I visit just before I go to bed.
But that doesn't make me an addict ... does it
OH NO !!!

I don't think so Wendy. Because if you are an addict, then I must be too and I most certainly am not

Okay, but it sounds like you managed to have breakfast, do some housework and some baking. These are all good signs that you recognize that there are other important factors to sustaining life. :D You're going to be okay Robyn.

I am addicted and have been right from the start but ...........
Way back last September there was a similar thread and I said I was going to use this addiction to motivate me. I said I had joined Weight Watchers and I would walk a mile on my treadmill every morning before I would allow myself to look at the forum. IT WORKED!!! I am now 42 pounds lighter and feel great. I am also a WW life time member and intend to be a PET life time member! :)

WOW Mary.......42 POUNDS.......Congratulations.
I badly need to learn from your example. I've put on quite a bit of weight since I retired.......gone up a dress size and can't fit into anything.

Last year I joined a gym for 12 months and went 4 or 5 times a week. As well I had over 50 (expensive) personal training sessions......and I put on weight. Trouble is I passed the shopping centre on the way home............
And on top of that.......I had just left the gym one day, going across an intersection with the green light and had my car written off by some idiot running a red light. So my gym visits left me overweight and having to buy a new car!:D

Thanks Robyn and Nancy :) now the real challenge will be to keep it off and stay healthy. If I feel like I am slipping I know that visiting the forum will be my reward for renewed resolve. btw I took an early retirement December 2004 and we moved to another state so you all filled a VERY LARGE hole in my life. Thanks!:)

Congratulations on the weight loss, Mary! I know how hard it is to lose those extra pounds! I went to Weight Watchers a long time ago and after the first 10 pounds I had a really hard time losing any more.
I confess that I'm addicted to this hobby (my camera and Elements) and this forum! I did some basic work in Elements before I found this forum, but the PET group and the members here give so many GOOD tips that I can't stop!

Mary,
You may have lost "part" of you but your heart has always stayed the same size!!!:) And that'a the best part.
No I don't turn on the computer on my way to get my coffee in the morning, no I don't check every half hour or so from work, no I don't turn on the computer before I feed the cats after work, while I'm making dinner, before I go to bed.......No, No, No I'm not addicted!

Mary, treadmills are wonderful clothes racks. Seriously, I congratulate you on winning at losing!!
Deborah, that's a great first step in admitting to your addiction... I refuse to admit it b/c if I do, I'll have to do something about it - like sleep at night rather than surfing the forum & galleries. One good thing about surfing the forum... you do eat less with both hands on the keyboard. :D

Congratulations Mary! My problem is that I spend so much time reading the forum and surfing Elements stuff that I have no time to TRY any of it! Not good!

I use this forum as a reward. When I'm a good 'Suzie Homemaker' and do all my chores for the day, I can sit at the computer without guilt. But my list of chores for each day is getting smaller and smaller!!!!

Robyn I think it is amazing that you can spend time here AND make a lemon tart and Pavlova (we do eat this in Canada) in a morning. Your post made me so hungry as I am trying to stay off sweets. THEN I read Mary has gone to WW and lost all this weight. Extra Congratulations Mary. WOW. I gained weight last year when I quit smoking and going to the gym four times a week is not helping. I went to a nutritionist last week and have changed my eating habits as she suggested. Not necessarily less - but healthier. It is very very hard with no treats. But this morning I had lost 3 pounds - not getting excited yet -- will see what Monday morning weigh in brings. AND addicted I am - but I have been through worse addictions so I am quite happy to tell people that my addiction is Photoshop Elements and a digital camera!!!
