In Wendy's tutorial on Christmas cards, she mentioned that everyone was making snowflakes in the forum. Since I'm new, I'm wondering where to find instructions for making these snowflakes. Thanks!:)

Be very careful its very addicting and you may be up all hours cutting away.

Some time ago, I wrote a tutorial on making flakes using the aforementioned website.

http://homepage.mac.com/carbmac/FileSharing8.html

It's the first item, to the left.

Hope this helps!

At the time I made this, I was hosting (via my Pbase account) the Snowflakes Museum. So much fun :)

It is so cold here, I had to put a jacket on today. Now, I'm not complaining, we, Canadians, are used to living in Winter, 17 months a year... but in June, wearing anything other than a t-shirt... it's a rare event... :D

Uh Oh - I think I'm going to be in trouble now....these are really fun.

I'd love to see a real snowflake today. It is HOT today - Last weekend was 112 F. It isn't quite that bad now but it will be mighty hot anyway.I don't think we'll see cool now until November. My pool is as warm as a bath.
Thanks for sharing the site. Anne

People, why don't you use Pixentral to host your best snowflakes? That would be fun to see!

Ohhhhhhh nooooo - I'm afraid to get started with this... where's the earlier posts from the past 24 hrs. regarding the forum being addicting? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Every day there's something new to keep you up nights.;) My dog is getting so lonely I'm fear her next step is to eat my computer - I'm already playing fetch with one hand on the keyboard & the other on the ball!!

Nita those are lovely. I did post a warning with the link, next time I guess I should make it a bit larger.

Here's a stupid question. I downloaded a bunch of the snowflakes, then I copied them into brushes and also into custom shapes, not knowing what exactly what they were, but they don't show up anywhere. I have tried opening PSE4 again, but they still are no where to be found. I looked in my Windows Explorer and I see them there under custom shapes. Why don't I find them here?

Hi Litespeed ...

The snowflakes you make then download are just images not brushes or custom shapes.

If you want to turn them into brushes then you need to open the image, select the snowflake, fill it with black and then do Edit>Define Brush from Selection ..

and there is you brush.

You will then need to save it ... if you go here Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641) you will find a tutorial called "Using the Preset Manager to Save brushes"

Sadly you won't be able to make custom shapes from them as Elements doesn't have the ability to do that ...

Litespeed- Since you're working your way through the Christmas stuff now, you'll be sitting back drinking eggnog while the rest of us are scrambling to get our Christmas cards done!
