PSC2 Adjustment Layers

It seems to me that when I first got PSCS2 and created an adjustment layer I'd see an icon that would give me a hint as to what the layer was about next to the mask. Now I get the half white/half black circle. Is my confused mind mixing PSE and PSCS2 or did I turn off some capability of display adjustment layer hints in PSCS2 some how?

Thanks for all of your answers. It turns out I just changed the size of the thumbnails in the layers pallet and when I returned it to Medium or Large, all is well.
