First of all, Matt, that's a cool project. I'm looking for just the right image to play with.
Second of all, your images ala Mike--er--Matt (sorry, Kev. Couldn't resist:D), have been great. Nancy, I tried a panorama at Safeco Field last summer, but I didn't line up the shots well when I took them, so it didn't work out. Yours of the Cardinals Stadium is very well-done.
Third, I didn't want Dave to feel left out. Because his was cool, too! ;)

Yes, Dave, yours WAS cool, too. I'm hunting for the right photo to use it on.
And speaking of the right photo . . . Mike, that one was perfect. I like the effect on the background, too. Very nice.

Mike,
I agree, Dave's tutorial was also great. I tried it last night, and had no problems following it, but I wasn't happy with the picture I chose so want to have another go when I've found the perfect picture.
You've really used the tutorial to great effect with this waterwheel image Mike. What filter have you used on the background?

That is the perfect rendition of Dave's tut. I was working on it last night a while and am still tweaking things a bit and was going to post one this evening.

Thanks, all, for the nice comments. It was one of those lucky things--first photo I tried happened to work out OK. I would have wanted to take more time on the frames, but I had to rush a bit. I wasn't sure when I'd get another window of time.
Bayla, I used a couple of the Distort > Glass filters. I think one filter layer was the Frosted Glass, and then Tiny Lens (or something like that) on the bottom layer.
Nancy, I'm anxious to see yours! Your work is always so great!

Hi Mike - I loved your waterwheel version of Matt's project. The background is wonderful. I hope I can learn to do things like that. My skill set is pretty random - I do something I like and then can't figure out how to do it again :D
Hey - HOW do you put that little Pixentral thumbnail on the post? And while I'm asking, how do you name your gallery with a link to it?

OOPS - I guess it was Dave's project....I haven't even seen that one yet.

Hi Andie ...
To add a link to your Gallery ...
Click on User CP at the top of the page then on Edit Signature and copy and paste this into it:
[333url=http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/viewgallery.php?user=xxxx] My Gallery[/url]
Where it says My Gallery type in what you want to show in your signature.
Now remove the 333 and where it says xxxx type in your user number. Make sure that you don't add any extra spaces ..
To find your user number ... click on Access my Gallery then click on "Share my Gallery" and you see the user number there.
and to add a thumbnail from Pixentral ..
Once it is uploaded just scroll down below the image and copy the link that is there ... the one right at the bottom :)

Hi Andie ...
Oh that looks so good ... it frames the individual parts of the image perfectly :)
The info on how to add a link to your gallery ... well when the galleries were first set up on the site we all decided to add links but everytime someone new subscribed to the site they wanted info on how to do it ...
So I wrote out a detailed list and then saved it in my cut and paste file ... now its a simple matter to just add it into a thread :)
Don't like to think how manay times I have used it .... but its a lot ..

Thanks Wendy - the only trouble is I am clueless as to how I made the frame. Sometimes I just keep clicking on things until something happens. which was the case this time <grin>

Andie-
I like your twist on Dave's tut! The different sized rectangles works well. Good work!
As for the pixentral thumbnail, makes sure you copy and paste the correct link. See below...

The other one will give you a link.
And yes, Wendy is a Godsend.

Anne and Mike:
Those are both great! I have to check out that tutorial!!
Anne:
How did "your" kids like the photos you did of them??????
By the way guys, you are supposed to keep a notebook next to your computer so you can write EVERYTHING down to help us poor slugs to the nice work you do !!!!!!!!:D :D :D
Wendy: If I haven't said it before YOU ARE A GODSEND!!!!!

Hi Colleen - The kids loved the pictures. They were not allowed to bring a camera into graduation. Their parents could take pictures before, during, and after the ceremony but the kids couldn't have anything in their hands during the ceremony. They just loved that I snuck my camera in so they could have photos with their friends.
Mike - do I copy that link ( under the pic) instead of the one at the top? Can I copy both somehow? I suppose I'd have to copy the bottom one and post it in the forum and leave the window open. Then I'd have to go back and copy the other one. ( Am I thinking out loud again???) I like to email my mom with the Pixentral link so she can see the latest. She is legally blind so the ability to click on the link and have it take her right there is a blessing. For her, trying to maneuver through numerous pages to get to something is very difficult.
Thanks for your encouraging words.

Anne:
The way to do the new clickable link in pixentral is to post the pic then go to the bottom box NOT the HTML one the one underneath that. Copy the whole thing...it's a bit long.... and paste that in the insert link box on the reply to thread view on the forum.
I think that is what you were asking about, if not....sorry:o

Andie ...
If you want to copy the other link for you Mother then that is easy to do just copy the bottom one and post it in the forum then click on the thumbnail image in your message and you will then be able to copy the other link :)

Okay Mike - here is mine. I used the tut and then put the selection of small pics on their own layer. Next I ctrl_clicked that layer and selected inverse to get the "frame". I put that on it's own layer, filled with color, added texture, bevels and drop shadow to the frame layer to get the window frame effect. Very fun and easy.

That's perfect, Nancy. Love your frame. Very windowish. It really looks like the bird is looking in. Is his (her?) head backwards? Is that a cardinal? Can they do that? Ouch...
Great, great work.

Thanks Wendy and Mike. Yep - that's a male cardinal and he turned his head to look at me when I took the picture out of my real picture window in the family room.

Oh, that's all, Nancy? Well, never mind, then. I thought you might have been hanging from a branch with one hand, holding the camera with the other, and fighting off the angry Cardinal Spouse with your feet.:D
No, no, no...it's a great shot. I've never had any luck shooting birds. Probably because I don't have a DSLR. Last Saturday, a woodpecker was working over the top of a tree about 20 yards off our deck. A big old zoom lens would have been perfect...

My advantage is that we added the family room to our 104 year old house and the dogwood tree was there and is my husbands favorite tree. The family room window was placed to showcase the tree and the room addition was actually cut down by 2 feet to avoid disturbing the tree. The branches almost touch the window so it's easy to sneak pictures of the birds.

It does - most of the "gingerbread" was removed but we have spent 15 years restoring it. My husband got a scroll saw for Christmas the first year we lived there. He should have known what was coming.:D
It is a small, single story victorian cottage - not one of the big grand Queen Annes but I still love it.
